Hey all,
A friend of mine showed me an awesome awesome card trick. I later asked him whose it was. He said Rene Levand. I did a little research and found the DVD that contains it. It is on volume of "Close-up Artistry," with Levand. I wanted to know if any of you had, and if it was good. From the description, this looks like one of the best DVDs on card magic. I even remember seeing him perform on one of those Magic TV shows. I was baffled then, and I was baffled by my friend.

Rene lavand is amazing, you will love his routines, and a lot of his sleights are very usefull, you can adapt his sleights for other routines such as the one hand shuffle and cut, is not to difficult , ver very visual and I use this sleight a lot. He perform in spanish (I love that bacause I'm mexican) but with a simultaneus translation. highly recommended material

Not to assume anything but I think he means volume one. And the trick It can't Be done any slower. Awesome trick.

Jmax, thanks for your comments on me, we can have a discussion on that card trick at the Magic Castle next time!

I believe his stuff is also still in video pretty cheap if you want to save money and get them all. If you're interested, I can check.

Whew! I got the DVD today, volume 1. I got if from magicwarehouse, and it came in less than 5 days, including sunday and july fourth, impressive shipping. Anyway, this is a fabulous dvd. I really wish I got the chance to meet Rene, he is obviously a genius. There is a lot to learn from this dvd, and I suggest it to all.

One note, it is in black and white, and for a dvd the specially deals with a lot of red black contrast, it can get a little confusing. But never the less, this is a great dvd, and I highly, highly recommend it to all.

What is your favorite effect in the DVD so far, Rmax (Sorry for miscalled your name as Jmax last time)?

Definately the "It can't be done any Slower." That is fabulous. And all the one hand double lifts, one hand cut, one hand false cut, one hand second deal... all that is just soooo cool. I haven't really looked into any other effects yet, but I can't wait.

Oh, and let me say this. My DVD played was messing up and one of the color cables wasn't secure. After seeing three black and white dvd's, I realized that something must be wrong. I fixed my dvd player, and the Levand DVD is NOT in black and white. My mistake.

I was excited to get vol 1 too. But my main complaint is that there is a female translator next to him to translate in English as it is sold in an English speaking market. But he is shouting and yelling so loud in Spanish and she has a very quiet voice that it is very difficult to watch and try and listen to her.
In retropect if their plan was to make it for an English speaking audience they should have only gave her a microphone or at least turned his down

I agree, but do not think that this should stop ANYONE from buying this dvd.

"It Can't Be Done Any Slower" is just sooo powerful that I would have bought this dvd even if that was the only thing on it. The other effects are just bonusses in my opinion.

I love "It can't be done any slower" myself. I learned it out of one of his books. GREAT trick. He even baffled me with it when it was performed on worlds greatest magic. I never knew how it was done till I read his book.

Rene Levand's DVD is inspiring. With the fact that he performs card magic with one hand is awesome! "It can't be done any slower" is my favorite.

His Name is LAvand, short for Lavandera, it is not LEvand.

His close up routine Las Migas, or Symphony of the colors are also amazing !
