I am curious to know what sites for buying collectable apparatus have been the best in your opinion i.e. Stevens, Ebay, Magic Auction etc. or some of the smaller private sites James Riser, Richard Gerlitz, etc.

For truly limited edition collectibles, I would pick Richard Gerlitz. Though his magic is expensive his pieces are sure to appreciate in value, e.g. his Chambers of Sea-Ling sold for $1000 in November when first released and recently sold on eBay for $1495. Ebay is good but only a very few offer collectibles: flinner@concentric.net
and magicinvestments are likely the best sources.

The best items are offered by John Mendoza on Ebay Flinner@concentric.net
and Mario Carrandi (Magiquarian and Magicinvestments). Ron Allesi has a good web site and auction Ronallesimagic.com
Gerlitz makes beautiful stuff but let's face it, it's new, made by him. If you want Thayer and Owen and P&L try the above sites.

I don't understand the last several words in this comment. Could you elaborate. Thanks.

Count Elmsley, I second the motion by George...what exactly does that mean? Is an item only collectable if it is a certain age? If so, there are a TON of people getting ripped off from Beanie Babies to Trading cards. I am sure there was a day when Owens, P&l and Thayer were "New and built by them".

Chance and George: Sorry for the late reply. I have some of Dick Gerlitz's items including his incredible card frame. His craftsmanship is topnotch. What I meant to say was if you are looking for antique magic such as Owen and Thayer then Dick is not the place to look. If you collect contemporary quality magic that is produced in limited runs then he is a very good choice. I think the others sites I mentioned above will have more variety for you to choose from.

Count, Sounds good! Your opinion & knowledge are always welcomed by me and I appreciate your input in the Café. I am looking forward to seeing BrownBeauty.org opening. Looks like it will be another great avenue for fine collectables.

I have tried to contact Martinka several times via the email on their website, but alas with no response. Is the address correct, are they still up and running ( there seems to be no auctions or items available to view).

If anyone can help me out on this I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!
Yours Magically,
Lee Alex
