The last effect in this book is with esp cards, I think he refers to it as the parity principle. Is anyone familiar with any other effects that use this ?

I don't know Psimatika, but the parity principle is also generally invoked when talking about Bob Hummer's Cut And Turn Over (CATO) principle. Lots of interesting work on that: See Dear Mr. Fantasy by John Bannon and Harry Lorayne's effect called "Really" which was published in Genii Magazine a year or two ago.
