A new advertiser here at The Magic Café is Tabman. Tabman's real name is Tabby Crabb but Pete Biro dubbed him The Tabman many years ago.
----------------------------------oOo---------------------------------
Tabman started his magic making craft in 1974 when he was living on the streets of Amherst MA when he started a little company called Crescent Moon Magic who's slogan was Magic For The Close Up Connoisseur, with a single product, a suede leather close-up pad. Fortunately Tabman was befriended by a local carpenter and cabinet maker, Tom Clarke, who let him use his shop at night and let him sleep in the adjacent building. As Crescent Moon Magic, Tabman bought his first small ads in Genii Magazine around that time and developed a relationship with Bill Larsen Jr and much later Dante Larsen when he was Editor of Genii as well.

In the 1980s Tabman designed and started making his famous Drawer Tables and Flat Tables which he dubbed The Ammar Table, because Michael participated in the design of them and he made several tables for him including the one he took to FISM and used with his winning act. Thankfully, by this time Tabman moved into an old colonial era house just outside Washington DC that his grandmother left him when she passed away. The large brick basement was a perfect place for a real shop. Tabman got busy making the Ammar Tables, his Drawer Tables and some beautiful rosewood Drawer Boxes and hand turned magic wands and one off props on custom order.

Also in the mid 1980s Tabman's magic craft caught the eye of several magic dealers and he began selling Tabman Tables in earnest especially a table designed after the table described in the Erdnase book which proved to be popular and continues to be today. Fact is, magician Jim Patton performs on a Tabman Train Table when he does his sets at the upstairs bar at Hollywood's famed Magic Castle.

During the decade of the 1990s Tabman made the Outgoing National Presidents Award Wands and the Close-Up Magician of the Year (the Gold Cups Award) awards for The International Brotherhood of Magicians as well as perfecting the "wall wand" award for many local magic clubs around the world. Tabman's magic has been represented in the past by most of the United States major magic dealers as well as magic salons in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy and currently is partially represented by Hocus-Pocus in Fresno, Ca..

Now at nearly 60, Tabman works at crafting magic full-time and enjoys a good reputation for making tables, wands, Casino Chip magic and his other props for magicians around the world. Magicians like Michael Ammar, Paul Kozak, Jim Patton, Giovanni, Amazing Johnathan, Max Maven, Richard Hatch, Pete Biro, Andrew Pinard, Michael Weber, Richard Kaufman, Max Abrams, Eric Lewis, TA Waters and hundreds of others have put their confidence in Tabman's magic over the years. And every prop is hand made by The Tabman himself.

Tabman has been busy lately turning out his line of Casino Chip magic including the Casino Chips, Dice and Cylinder, Las Vegas Chip Assembly, Jim, Shim and Maggie and his new Rare Wood Turnover Boxes as well as favorites like The Jumbo Card Guillotine, TA Water's Chest of Destiny and the magic tables. These and other fine products can be viewed at his website
