Hi everyone,

Can any of you out there please tell where (video, book, etc) I could learn the "Sybill" cut.

BTW what is your favorite(s) cut and flourish with cards??? And where can we learn it???

Sybil comes from Chris Kenner's book Totally Out of Control.

You can also learn the modified cut called "What the Hell Happened to Sybil?" on Brian Tudor's Showoff Volume 1, if you can find a copy.

This is actually probably my favorite flourishy thing with cards. It takes A LOT of practice, so be warned!

my favorite flourish is the daryl hot shot cut. i learned it by watching the intro of ambitious card video over and over again, until i've got it. but i think it is also descriped on a london lecture video of daryl.
There exist also an not so difficult version in the thrid book of paul harris art of astonishment...

For a few variations on the Sybil, check out Dan and Dave Buck's tape "Animations." Be warned, this is very difficult stuff and you won't be putting into your act anytime soon.

I heard those guys, the Buck Twins, had some really nice flourishy type stuff. I'll have to check out that tape, I'm big on that kind of stuff. I have no problem practicing an awesome cut for hours upon hours...it's a sickness

In my 2nd lecture notes ("The Lecture Your Father Never Gave You"), I explain the Sybil Cut (with Chris Kenner's gracious permission) which is a part of a multi-phase routine called "Shuffling Styles From Around the World."

I think I've made Sybil much easier to learn by explaining it using only 5 individual cards (AC->5C). Once you have it down with that packet, you can apply the technique to the entire deck.

corey, before u get pasteboard animations from the buck bros. get show off 1 or 2. it helps u get the basic formation to start any cut from those vids. i got all 3 plus the notes from the twins. all pretty good material. but hard to fit into a routine and lots of fun to practice. if u want to see what some of those cuts look like email me. hawaii4eva@hotmail.com

Daryls Hot Shot Cut was originally published in his book "For your entertainment pleasure" in the trick Snowshoe Sandwich i believe.

My favourite flourishy cut (although I only do them for fun and not in performance) is a cousin of Sybill noone I met knows the origin of but it was popular at the Scandinavian convention a few years back among the fluorishy guys.

I also like Lee Ashers cut from his video 5 Card Stud.

Check out brian tudors second show off video. What the hell happened sybil two. I think the guys on fast forward when he does the cuts incredible. BTW he seems to be sweating at some points it makes you wonder how much excersise your gettinbg while practising.

Yes the Versions that Brian Tudor and original Chris Kenner has are fun. But cuts like that have to be expanded. With enough practice (and u can do it) try and get it from its original 5 to 9 (or even ten if u are so lucky). Enjoy!

Watch Brian Tudors Show Off (1 or 2, or both!) for even more cool cuts and flourishes, inculding great sybil work.

I highly reccomend the Buck twins video Pasteboard Animations for some killer flourishes, also while you are at it, check out their excellent notes, Nursery Rhymes#1 and Nursery Rhymes #2 (www.pasteboardanimations.com)

If you are flourish-crazy like myself, you can go all the way by getting Jerry Cestkowskis very good, very cool and very big book 'The Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes' (www.flourishman.com)

You may be interested in checking out some of LEe Asher's work,(especially Sibling, from the five card stud)
Also, watch for Joey Burton, I hear he is very skilled with flourishes.
And last but not least, check out TG MURPHYS excellent book IMAGICATION to learn even more flourishes and how to incorporate flourishes into your magic.
