What is "The Falcon Illusion"?
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

An empty cage is placed inside an empty box. The cage an box are placed behind a mirror. A falcon penetrates the mirror and ends up inside the cage that is in the box.

That was an illusion based on a standard glass penetration created for Sigfried & Ray for their TV special years ago. I'm not sure where it resides now.

As I recall, the illusion was not created for Siegfried and Roy, but rather used by them with permission from a magician from England. Was the name 'DeVere or something similar?

That would make sense. I would trust your memory on anything. For me... that particular illusion was eclipsed by the mangled flamingoes so I didn't pay as much attention to it.

I believe it was invented by an English magician from the Masklyenne era whose name escapes me right now. It was called Vanity Fair.

Yes Richard I think you are right..but I remember there was some contretemps about Siegfried doing it which makes me believe that some contemporary performer (circa 1980) allowed them permission.
I could be wrong tho'....

So would the best place to start be with Siegfried and Roy?

No I would start with the Goldston books. I will try to get looking in some of them.

I also think Owen's made a version of this for a rabbit.

Las,
You are correct. Rai and I talked tonight and he verified my thoughts on it. I just could not remember what book. But at least I was in the right era and century.

Richard,

I'm pretty sure you are and Senor Rai correct either because I saw the Vanity Fair in other book back in a while just don't remember which one.

Best,

Las

Hi
this illusion need to have 2 animals , right ?
I'm not sure about the angles when the box is shown empty.. Any information about this ? The box seems a mini tip over trunk, but maybe I 'm wrong as I have not seen the effect live.
