Gazzo yelling "no attention span" and other comments when someone leaves is a well known and necessary street performing technique when someone walks away from the show and crowd. It's necessary because, if you don't call attention to the fact that they are leaving, and embarrass them a bit, then it could start a mass exodus. By doing that, you put the rest of the crowd on notice that, if they leave, they will have attention called to them. It's a basic and necesarry technique. This is just one of the very basic, as well as very advanced techniques that Gazzo uses without even thinking about them that makes him so sucessful at what he does. He doesn't think about it anymore because he has internalized it all. Unless you have street performed before it can look deceptively simple what he's doing. Unless you have done it, people may assume that huge crowds will gather for anyone who pulls out a set of cups and balls, and that holding a crowd that has nother things to do and other things on their minds, that holding such a crowd for over an hour and keep them entertained, laughing, and amazed for that long is no big deal. It may look simple because Gazzo is making it look simple. It looks effortless because Gazzo is doing it. Anyone who has tried it though, knows it's anything but and that what Gazzo is doing is amazing. I'm looking foward to his new dvd because everytime I see him perform I learn more.
By the way, when Gaz performs at the castle, you know who comes to watch him? People like Bill Malone and Johnny Ace Palmer. Those people are not coming to watch Gazzo false transfer. They're coming to watch his true magic: his entertaining of an audience. That's real magic.

Compton, do you work the streets?.....i mean no disrespect but I can tell you tht the streets are a different place....and only the strong survive....i see magicians try and fail and go home with their tails between their lega....trust me when I tell you gazzo is brillant...he has total control of an envirnment that you cant control HES THE BEST I was working recently in a place I dotn care to comment on when a magician came up to me and said I saw you load the lemon and the big load...but you wre pretty good he was a magician...if you don't know when its getting loaded then you are a moron! that's what the guy was...not calling you a moron compton...BUT you should know when its getting loaded....the thing is lay people don't...and most of us don't care what magicians think because we are not out there for magicians...we are working for lay audiences they are what count and they see nothing...and if you saw a juggler getting a bigger hat than gazzo its likely because he had a bigger crowd....go out and do it on the streets...stand next to me inh new orleans then we will talk about gazzo and where he is on the pecking order...and what he says...well in my opin ion he goes too far but that's him...and if people don't like ti they can walk away...and the reason gazzo gets after someone for walking away is because he doesn't want anyone else to walk away...thats how it is

Wow... What a thread. I get a kick out of where threads go when they take off. All I can say is study the masters. Gazzo's DVD will be just fine. It will give everyone that watches it a chance to get a peek at what it's all about in the trenches. I'm sure anyone that has a grip on his own magic will be better for the experience. If not, sell it on eBay. I'll look for the good deals.

Gazzo's cup routine is pure Gazzo. I've seen the clone's and in a few years they will have a routine that will be their own. I had an ol' magi tell me one time, "Learn it the way it is written. You will learn why the guy put the routine together that way and after you learn it, perform it. At that point you can see what works for you and your persona. Then chop it up. Keep what works and toss the rest. Write and re-write. Then the offering magi's routine will be yours."

I've used this advise for over 25 years and it works. The process will take a month to years and years but when it gets there... It's yours.

Get Gazzo's DVD. In fact buy 2 and give one to a friend that needs the help. He will thank you for it.

Ark,s statment is the truth, with a show like Gazzo's you can work it all day long. You just can bang them out, I have worked up to 10 shows in a day. When juggerlers struggle to do 3 more so a gymnast.

I cant waite to get my hands on this DVD.

The gymnast might as well have pulled a gun and asked for the money. Busking is an art and when the rules of the art are viloated by taking short cuts, it hurts the craft. People should leave feeling thbney wewre entertained, not shaken down!

Anyone seen the dvd yet?

Not yet. According to Penguin it should have arrived this week, but so far nothing has shown up in my mailbox.

As a magician, when I first saw Gazzo perform I was a little let down. Especially after all the hype about how great he is. Then I went to http://www.schoolforscoundrels.com and downloaded his street act and started studying why he does what he does. Well, now I am a believer.

Take sometime to check out the video. Not just once but a few times and listen to the audience and you will be a believer too.

Follow up:
Penguin changed the delivery date of the Gazzo DVD to after October 1st.

New follow up they changed the statement under the trick again. Now it says

"This item is expected to arrive on August 28th, 2006. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives."

I think the cart got in front of the horse again. But I to will wait patiently

Whatever is happening, I'm sorry it has taken so long to get Gazzo's DVD out. There has been a long and very intriguing list of Gazzo-related products to come on the Penguin web site since they first advertised their connection, but so far nothing to show for it. I hope when this DVD arrives it will signal additional products to follow. I think Gazzo is knowledgeable far beyond his hallmark cups and balls, and there is a lot to be learned. However, I guess I'll stop watching the mailbox until October.
