Anyone know where I can find one with a colorful middle silk? I'm only getting solid colored silks in my searches. I used to own one that had a center silk that was red, blue, yellow and green and was hoping to find a similar one if not the same..thanks

Hi Marc:

I'm not sure what your budget is, so here are different options:

1. Fun Inc. sells a pretty decent version that uses 18 inch silks with a multi-colored middle silk. I noticed http://www.elmwoodmagic.com has it for about $30.00

2. At the other end of the price range, you can go to http://www.silkkingmagic.com or http://www.pasilks.com and get a beautiful set that is bigger, if that's what your after.

I bought a tie-dye set from Abbott's that is nice. The middle silk is Red, yellow, and blue. I think it cost about $60 a few years back. Hank Lee's used to sell a tie dye set also.

Hope this helps,

Marc, if budget is a concern, you really don't need to purchase an entire set. Rice, P&A Silks and several other dealers all carrying nice sunburst or multicolor silks.

You can easily substitute the middle silk for whatever silk you want. Of course, you just have to make sure you get a second one to match. Dazzling Magic has an 18-inch set for $45. They cut, sew, and dye their own silks. Here is the link:

Folks have already mentioned Abbott's, Silk King, and P&A. You can also look at what Richard Hughes offers: 20TH CENTURY SILKS Prepared or Unprepared /(Solid, Sunburst, or Diagonal sets). He has sets in sizes of 15”, 18”, 24”, and 36”.

Good luck!

Thanks so much. You all have been extremely helpful. The set that Elmwood sells is the one I used to have. I think I'm going to buy it from them - thanks Ron.

Sorry that I never saw this before. There is a lot available! Even worse, I've lectured down your way and apparently did not show some of the options.

From me there are a lot of 18" center printed silk options.

Happy Birthday
Thank You

Good Bye
Zebra Stripes (Red/White and Black/white)
Rainbow (4 Color diagonal purple, yellow, green, red)
3- Color Diagonal (Red, blue, yellow)

(Until we ran out, there were even some with dragon silks in the center.)

PS --- We only have multicolor / tie-dyed silk when a bolt of silk has been ruined. It is a salvage job specific to the stains to be covered up. Fortunately, nobody has damaged a bolt of our silk in over three years so the salvage job has been unnecessary. Hobbyists enjoy coloring silk this way at home. It works!

Also, you can airbrush the solid silks!

I do sell matched sets of center silks in tie dyes by themselves in a variety of sizes.

Elmwood is currently selling an ugly sort of blue/purple, yellow/orange solid color set, they say is from Italy. Not vary colored center silk at all. But is is cheap at $25.00.

Fun Inc. sells a beautiful multi colored center silk for around $30, but the silk is very thin.

Marc,

I seldom get that far south in Florida. However, if you can catch me at a lecture, I'll be happy to show you how to make your own graphics with Sharpie pens on real silk.

Hmmm, this reminds me that I have four Rice 36" butterfly silks which have been stored away and never used (no, I am not trying to sell them, lol). And one thought I had had was to either construct a bag blendo using two of them or a 20th Century silk using two 24"silks and the Rice silk in the middle. Given the size, I will need to use someone else to assist........ unless I suddenly grew the arms of a basketball center.

I'm glad you brought this up again, Bob.

No you can do it yourself. When they are displayed, hold them them at the knots. That will cut the size down to 36".
