The first time I tried doing magic to kids I tried doing a card trick. After I was done, they just looked at me and said, "So... what happened?" I then learned that they prefer visual tricks with a simple story and I've been using coins and sponge balls for a while. The effect is amazing!

I used to do a lot of kid shows. Birthday parties, Vacation Bible School etc. With kids, they can get bored easily. Plus with all the video games these days and television, you want to make your show fairly fast paced. Their attention span is short so keep it lively, colorful, lots of volunteers if you can and keep the patter short, no long drawn out tricks.
