As the new President of the PCAM and host for the 2005 convention I just wanted folks to know we will be changing the format of the Pro Challenge to a Close Up contest rather than a stage one as in the past.

Contestants are selected from submitted video tapes and the finalist are invited to compete in people choice event with a top prize of a gold medal and $1000.00 cash, second prize is a Silver medal and $600.00 cash and a third prize of a Bronze medal and $400.00.

In the past our winners of the Stage contest have included: Mike Giles (the Majestics), Shawn Farquhar, Rapahel and Elenna form Russia, Danny Cole, Sylvester the Jester, Jason Byrne, Damien James, Steffen Soule, Murray Sawchuk, Dave Womach, Jeff Mcleod and Darcey Oakes. Now is the time to add some focus to the close-up folks so if you are interested drop by my magiChampion website for more details.

Cheers,

Shawn Farquhar

Oh did I mention that next years convention will be on a cruise ship?

What a great idea Shawn to have the convention on a ship, it sure will be fun. We couldn't make it this year to the PCAM because our passports are at the Brazilian office in Toronto waiting to get VISAS. It has been two weeks already and I can't leave Canada without a passport so was unable to attend the PCAM.
We are suppossed to leave this Saturday and still haven't got our passports back!! ... tommorrow is Friday so we are very nervous.
By the by, isn't there a name missing though from your list of past winners??
Cheers

The only reason you're doing this Mr Farquhar is to keep me out of the competition as you heard I was planning on entering my appearing iceburg illusion. A trick of Titanic proportions.

I'm hoping to be onboard for the P"sea"AM next year!

Oops sorry Paul.... How could I forget you.

Mr Payne, I have contacted the Captain of the Norwegian Star and he says "bring it on" we have a hull that's thicker than most politicians heads!

See you there...or should I say Sea you there.

PCAM 2005 where the theme will be:
Pack small...but PLAY BIG!

Hey there Shawn, This is going to be great and I am looking into booking my room this week. I am excited to see everything you have planned. I had a few people ask me about the general contests??? Any changes? Thanks for bringing this convention to a cool venue. Brian

Good question Brian,

The PCAM general contest will remain the same as they have for decades. We will offer awards in a multitude of categories including:
Stage
Close Up
Mentalism
Comedy
Platform
Assistant
Novel and Innovative
Showmanship
and of course the age levels will remain for Juveniles, Juniors and Adults.

I promise to hav all the rules and categories listed on the website very soon.

Wow, that is going to be one of the best P"sea"AMs ever. When did you have the idea to have PCAM on a cruise ship?!

About five years ago I made the suggestion and it has just taken someitme to put it all together.

Most folks don't know but the PCAM just licenses the convention each year and the financial winfall or loss is sole the responsibilty of the producer...so I wanted to make sure I had a few dollars in the bank before doing something this big....

Cheers,

Shawn
