I think it's impossible to ask for effects for a love story. There have to be some more information to give a serious answer to that question. What is your exact plot? Especially:
Who is the hero? What does he want? What is his conflict (where is the problem)? How does he solve this conflict? What does he get at the end? If you have made up your story in detail, many effects will come to your mind by itself. |

Hi
There are thousands of effects and as Ingo said Create your story first. Lost Love? Found Love? New Love? Off Beat love (man and dog / cat etc. Have a look at Copperfields linking ring routine in art gallery it may give you an idea. Paula

I've had this idea for several years of an act where the magician is magically preparing for the arrival of his date. Between the requisite dove productions he produces the table settings, candles, wine ect. The conclusion of the act would be the arrival of the girlfriend. As she sits down the magician covers the large cage that he has been depositing the doves in with a large cloth and spins the cage around. when he removes the cloth the audience see's that the cage is now a small oven. The magician opens this and removes the finely prepared dish of squab and serves it to his love.

Before we go too far into this with effects, should we not take a step back and talk about the important things of this act or routine. That would be things such as:
- Character: Who are you going to try and be when your on that stage and what is this character like to the audience? - Theme: What is the theme overall and how is the story going to be told to the audience? How will you convey this story so that the audience understands? - Setting: What is physically going to be on the stage? How much do you need to tell the story without getting the stage to full so focus is not on you? - Emotional response: If your going for an emotional response from your audience, what do you want them to feel and at what points in the act? Figuring this out aheadof time will often help you not only find what effects fit and work, but will also keep you focused better so that everything reflects back upon your key points. Just soemthing to think about. Kyle

As usual Kyle you are right on! Having helped my son create his award winning act, you have to put all those questions on the table first and after resolving them, thenn and only thn figure out the tricks ( vehicle) that will take you where you need to go. Too many magicains only worry about the effect and not the whay or whats of the routine.

Listen to paula
she's the only girl in this thread Here is my morning brainstorm: make the girls go oooooh candle lit dinners chocolates champagne roses walks on the beach silk bed sheets/pillows gazing at each other cute teddy bears as gifts to assistants- and yes cute soft white rabbits bubbles are pretty soft piano playing setting the scene and mood/ atmosphere of the show is important simply doing a flash rose production aint gona achieve anything. so I agree with magic4u02 Also I think you would want to make women (because your a guy) want to get up on stage so the teddy bear giveaway holding a rose would make them just fall over but I am a guy talking about what women want so talk to paula oh and paula thanks for responding to my talent quest post David Welzman |
