Hey my name is Kevin Yang, and I am currently enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University. I've been a lurker on the magic Café for quite some time. I finally decided to come out of shadows and try to be a part of the community. I am still relatively new to magic, I have some books on magic - Royal Road to Card Magic, Card College, Karl Fulves - Self Working Tricks, and Harry Lorayne's Close Up Card Magic. But I have a long way to go, if anyone has any resources to recommend or advice to offer, I'd be more than willing to listen.

Hello Kevin and welcome to the Café.
I am new to the Café myself but no stranger to card magic. The books you mention are excellent. I would also recommend anything that you can get your hands on by Vernon, Marlo, Ortiz, and Ascano. These books can take you all the way from being a beginner to being an expert. All of their material contains easy to do card magic to intermediate to expert. Any other books that people recommend can add to your studies. Just one thing, take it one step at a time. Learn to crawl before you walk, and learn to walk before you run. It all comes in due time. Good luck and welcome. Jim

Kevin: At the risk of the few who will "holler" that I'm plugging my books - I will plug my books! If you have C-UCM, which was published in 1962 - you want to go on with some of my books. Go to my fairly new magic website (it's listed third under this post, with the word "magic" in it) and see what's available. Then, if you have any questions, email me privately and I'll be glad to answer them for you. Best - HARRY LORAYNE.
