Jeff Pierce once commented that my version of his The Joining was even faster than he can do it! I do it differently. The ending is the best part!

Nice touches! I like the transition between the two effects (pinnacle toward joining). As you said, it is quite fast!

Looks very much like Pinnacle with Mendoza Rhing Thing ending which was discussed as were several off's way back when Rhing Thing came out...

How does your ending differ from joining or rhing thing ?

Has Jeff or Mendoza sanctioned this ?

Are you showing how to do pinnacle or starting as mendoza does with the ring threaded on the band ?

If so why not start your video as mendoza does from the point where the ring is threaded on the band else it is misleading.

I do not own Mendoza's work. I started demoing this on SleightGeek way before his came out.

As far as differences from The Joining, The setup is different and you end up leading into the ending, which is the part which I consider all mine.

You CAN start from the ring threaded on the band. I don't like that way. It would be up to the individual performer to decide.

I do not believe Mendoza has a say in this. I would hope that Jeff would let me sell the limited run since Im giving all the money away.

But in truth the reason it is so fast is directly related to the method. It is a faster method of doing Jeffs link, which in turn is a Ring version of Kenner's Band 2 Band link in Missing Link. I really feel crediting all those involved is sufficient but if Jeff feels strongly about it I will talk to him about it.

I can vouch that he showed me this video way before Mendoza’s Ring Thing came out and I think I said that he linked the rink faster than I ever did, not that it was different.

I have not had a chance to read his setup to know if it is indeed different but he does do it faster. (That is probably just age. HaHa) The end unlink is definitely different than mine and I think original to Hoggle.

True, I made a modification to Kenner’s Missing Link to arrive at the Joining, which Kenner himself sanctioned.

Mendoza made another modification to the ending and released his after consulting with me.

Wow just wondering , if anyone knew why this guy was banned? I just tried to PM him.

A very clean performance, but I'm afraid there is nothing new there. Does Vince Mendoza, or Vinny Marini know about your originality claim? I find it curious that "Hoggle" is no longer a magic Café member, perhaps there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Hi Al, about three years ago or when MVD first got started I put a demo out of Chris Kenner’s missing link My addition to this great effect was the one handed dangling display and also moved the dangling band completely around the other band I also used this technique for Jeff Pierce’s The joining.

Vince Mendoza came out with his manuscript (Ring Thing) his effect had a different handling for the Kenner and Pierce effects. As a matter of fact I stated his was the best handling I had ever seen because is he eliminated that tel- tale x pattern and his ending was different, Vince also did a one handed display in his routine which he credits me as well for doing the display.

As for Hoggle I know nothing about him or his handling

I thought the Hoggle video looked an awful lot like Vinny himself except for the grey hair.
