Hello all. I was wondering what type of rope you guys are using for this effect and whwre do you buy it. Magicians rope seems like it would be exceedingly expensive but 1/4 inch braided cotton sash rope isn't to great

IIRC, "magicians' rope is/was untreated sash cord. Years ago, magicians, on the road, could buy "mill ends" of rope, relatively cheap, at a little factory in Georgia. The last time, I stopped, the factory had closed. EEEK!
I talked about one way that I "recycled" the rope for Scotty Lang's c&r. See page 309 in my book. I used the "Edward Victor/Doc Ervin/Mahlon Clayton principle with Leon Maguire's subtle improvement for cutting, and an idea derived from Scotty Lang's "Sucker C&R Rope Routine" (sold by Percy Abbott in the '40s).
I realize that this may not be entirely suitable for table hopping.

I generally just buy nylon cord from the hardware store and remove the cotton core. Works like a charm and comes in a variety of colors!
