Did someone do a recent lecture on Cylinder and Coins?
I sold more than usual recently and wondered who might be out there perofrming/teaching it?

Frank:
It may have been Eric Mead's recent performance on P&T Fool Us that spiked the recent increase in sales.

Yes, Eric did a phenomenal performance and due to clever framing "Fooled 'em".

Check it out!

Fooled me without the "framing".

Thanks for the info Doug and Mary! Watched it.

Great job, Eric.
That trick takes a lot of guts in any setting let alone there.
Awesome!!

Also, Todd Lassen is putting out new sets with some new refinements. I bought a Walking Liberty set and a leather cylinder from Frank. At one of the local clubs, a bunch of folks were interested in performing this routine. I sent them your way for the leather cylinder.

Coincidence Frank.
I bought one of your Scotty York cylinders because I finally acquired a nice walking Liberty stack
from a collector.

Now the search is on for anything that Scotty York published about his handling.

I didn't see Eric Mead's wonderful performance until recently.

Great leather work BTW!

In my opinion, this is, quite literally, the hardest trick in the world to do well. When Penn and Teller observed Eric Mead's presentation......they knew that!

And HERE is Eric's performance on the show, which to me, at least, was MAGNIFICENT!

I had never paid much attention to cylinder and coins before Meade's performance. I'm very interested in giving it a shot now. That was so well done!

I never get tired of watching Eric's performance. Beyond the flawless mechanics, his showmanship is pure poetry. It's nice to see a true master at work. Penn and Teller were the consummate professionals, however. That makes a big difference on how a close up trick plays on stage it seems. The take home message I got was how magical it is when one lives with a trick for a couple decades. I am trying to spend more time on a few showpieces rather than spreading myself too thin on too many tricks.

One of my favorite presentations of cylinder and coins is Tom Stone's Silver and Sorcery .. I can also attest to Frank's leather work.. I had him make me a custom Scotty York cylinder that's blue with white end caps.. (TARDIS anyone?). I've yet to perform this.. Frankly, the part that scares me the most are the coin vanishes...

Thanks. Your custom cylinder looks very cool. especially with the red corks. I think I have some pix of it somewhere on my phone.
yes, you do need to work on the vanishes for a long time to do them silently with confidence.

I do carney's version and the 2nd vanish is the most worrisome.
During practice I often didn't even do the routine, just the vanishes, for months and months and over the years.

If you do the version eric does (Tim's), it's a totally different thing.

Regardless of the version you do, reading John Carney's write-up in Carneycopia will put you in the right mind-set to be successful.
