After a long search, I found a source for large, heavy rings in a variety of colors. I was able to get these three for $15. Morgan dollar for scale.

Image

They make them in 7 sizes, from a 1/2 inch up to 3 1/2 inches. I got the 3 1/2 inch. According to my kitchen scale, they weigh 4.1 oz each and feel hefty.

I went with brass translucent, candy apple red, and candy blue raspberry, but they have a whopping 21 options for color. The blue has a subtle twinkle to it. I'd prefer the brass looked darker, but what can you do. The site says powdercoating can take up to 10 days, but they had mine shipped out two days later.

The rings aren't 100% perfect. They must hang them by something to do the coating, right by the weld line, so there are a few tiny blank spots where the color pulled away. The welds themselves are not invisible, but they held up to scrutiny by a mechanical engineer following a performance.

$2.81 each with the coloring. Shipping was $6.65.

Thanks, guys, glad to contribute. Chris, here are some large images of the welds. Because of the size, they make the spots with the chipped powdercoat look huge, but they are teeny tiny.

Thank you Ryan. All those on this quest want any info available.

I still think reef is better other than the size and color options.

If people see any weld at all, that is where the suspicion goes.

Thanks, Mary.

Which source do you have for a smooth scuba ring? The ones I found had as much of a visible line as the ones from Strapworks, but I would love to know all my options.

I was surprised to find the Reef site is closed at this time.

If you wait you may find a good source of rings.

If anyone lives near Amish Country I've gotten a great 3" brass ring from there, no seam to be seen (through a friend). Apparently, the Amish don't have a good website. LOL

Frankly, you never know, so if you don't already have a ring you like, I'd get one from Ryan's source while the getting is good. You can always keep looking for a completely seamless ring.

I was just at a local thrift shop and saw one of the fantasma magoc sets for two bucks. I didn't buy ot, however there were a set of linking rings, 4 or 5 inch ones. When I owned messado rings I used that as my ring and rope ring

Scott, on the product description there is a red tab for technical specs. On the 3 1/2" inch ring, interior is 3.49", exterior is 4.12", and the wire is .31". When I weighed mine, they were 4.1 oz each.

I got a 3" inch brass ring from Piranha Dive and it's fantastic. No visible seam; heavy solid brass (8 mm). Price: $2.69 plus shipping. Also available in stainless.

The Piranha Dive ring has a welded seam. Not seamless. I sell seamless brass rings which will soon be discontinued.

All Strapworks rings have a welded seam. If you don't need a seamless ring, these will be fine.
