Recently purchased an El Duco from a Café member. It is my first ring flight and I like it very much. As someone who worries, has anyone had the string or another component break and have they been able to service themselves or had to send it back, thanks?

I believe El Duco does not repair the reels. Reels can usually be repaired if you study the way you take it apart. As long as you don't break the spring, then new line can be replaced. If you can find a screw holding it together, then you should be able to repair it yourself.
No one has reported the El Duco Ring Flight breaking to my knowledge on the Café.
The best thing to remember is never - never pull the line out and let it snap back and slam against the housing. That will break the spring and line. Always use it properly and you should have years of good service.
