Hi all,

I was just watching the second Ross Bertram which features a tribute to Tenkai section. At the end of this he performs a beautiful effect with a paper butterfly. He tears it out from a piece of paper then makes it fly about with a fan. To close he waves the fan over his hand (which I swear was empty) and a large amount of butterflies fly out of it.

I think this is a fantastic effect and would love to learn it myself. Does anybody know of any references to this effect?

Thanks,
Adam V

This is basically the Snowstorm in China effect. I believe the book, "Magic with Faucett Ross" has the butterfly version.

The Butterfly over the fan was done by Houdini, Also Jeff McBride does it.

I have a feeling that something very similar to what you are talking about is sold by Davenports in London. http://www.davenportsmagic.co.uk
If I was you I would e-mail them and ask.

Hope this Helps,
