Hi all. Just starting to go throught my Simply Harkey book and am working on the GF routine.

Anyone else doing it and perhaps could PM me if they know of a video clip showing this on the internet somwewhere?.

Its very clever and well written but, it's always nice to see a visual presentation.

Alan,
Sorry I do not know of a video, but I've been intrigued by goldfinger ever since I got the book.
I think that the form of your fingers really make this routine or not.
Since I am "guitarman" and my fingers are long and thin the illusion doesn't look too good. However I've seen a couple of "pianoman-fingers" who seemed to do the job quite well. Maybe you're lucky!

Do not forget to read the Crib routine which uses the same technique for a routine that is really original. Alas, only for the right audience of mathematicians, scientists or Trekkie-fans...

Yeah, the goldfinger principle looks terrible when I do it. My fingers are too skinny.

I have been using this quite a bit. It fools people. I have a large hand but my fingers are relatively short and fat. Don´t know if it makes a difference.

Check out Harkey's video, "Simply Harkey" for his performance of this effect. It looks incredible.

Yes, his video is good example for checking his GF. D.Harkey performed and explained three kinds of GF on this video.

As others have mentioned, check out the video to see David perform this. It really does look great when he does it. I personally use the variation where you have someone cover your hand with their hand and then have the ring penetrate. I get better cover this way and the effect is still very strong.

P.S. I am selling my copy of Harkey on Video in the trading forum if you are interested. Feel free to e-mail or PM me for more info...

Andrew, as Dave Harkey mentions on his video, The GOLDFINGER principle can be used to make you pass a ring thru flesh and bone, change one ring to another and if you have a ring too small for that finger you can take the finger off and see the ring drop.
It is an excellent visual effect.I hope this helps you.

I have great success performing Goldfinger preceded by Garrett Thomas' "Ring Thing." I do the Thomas effect first, and then offer to show them how it works "close up and personal"--then I do Goldfinger. It kills 'em!

I want to learn this effect, but "Simply Harkey" seems to be out of print Smile

Can someone please confirm if Goldfinger is taught in "Harkey on Video" (or any other source)?

Thanks.

I saw David Harkey do this effect in his great lecture at the Magic Theatre in Sweden: the 28 of August 1994 and it was an amazing illusion first time I saw it live Smile I think this effect is great together with effects like Ring Thing and Pinnacle etc...

The Magic Theatre in sweden is owned by swedens top magician Stefan Schützer: http://www.magispecialisten.com

Not sure, but I think it's VHS only, and I'm not sure where you would buy it now (maybe Steven's).
