What do you all explain your little velvet cord is when you perform ring and string routines?
I don't like using other people's creative story ideas so I don't want to use Gregory Wilson's idea that it's a jewelry security cord from a fancy store. But I'm still trying to come up with an explanation to justify carrying around the cord.

If you a performing for adults you could say the are strings from a Victoria secret outfit.
If you are performing for children you could say they are magic shoe laces. |

Hi Bradley,
When I do string and ring work, I say that I have a piece of velvet cord. I have always considered the truth the best defense. Regards, Paul Green |

I have worn through the velvet cord and the local JoAnn Fabric hasn't anything similiar. Anyone else have this problem and where did you find a replacement/substitute?

Let's see.
Some of these ribbon colors symbolize more than one thing. -A red ribbon is used to show support for AIDS research. -Yellow for troop support. -Black. Symbol of the belief that violence and hatred are wrong. You may find some ideas and ribbon styles by Googling "(color) ribbon". Wear it and use it? |

Our local Joanne's does have the nice velvet cord.... in red and burgandy. You may want to double check! It's a big store, and was hard to find the first time I looked. PM me if you want the stock number.

![]() ![]() What ring and string routine do you people recomend? |

PaulGreen![]() Inner circle 1133 Posts ![]() |
The very best string/cord routine is the ZODIAC RING. It is a very hard manuscript to find, but well worth the effort.
Other suggestions include the work of: Dan Fleshman, Earl Nelson, Mark Leveridge, Ray Grismer (of course), Scott Guinn, Aldo Colombini, Bill Mullins, ... Enjoy the search, Paul Green |

Mr. Green,
You left out the very strong ring and ribbon symphony by Mr. Jay Scott Berry, it hardly comes any better - aklthough I must admit I haven't seen the Zodiac Ring script. BTW, I simply say, I would like to show you some classic magic with this ribbon and then I produce the ring by tying a knot on the ribbon and producing the ring from the knot. No need for explaining what a ribbon is, or why it's velvet, or whatever clor it has. It's pretty simple its a ring and a ribbon and some classical magic (just like you don't explain what a rubber band is, what a deck of card is, what a lemon is -its just what it is). After the first 2 penetrations I offer to do it with one of their rings. Then two more penetrations (all 4 penetrations in different ways - looks different) and ending with Al Bakers "Ring, string and wand" as the finale. Great routine. |

Thanks Paul! I'll look.
To add to Pete Biro's idea you could have a: Shoelace for the rich Rope for the rich ect. for the rich Other lines: I don't know, but it looked good on E-bay. (as you start to "cry") It has sentimental value. |
