I seen Steve Fearson do his Floating Cigarette in the isle of a dealer room. I was 3 feet form him and did not see a thing except a fantastic routine.

I like the animator - for me it's more flexible - I feel I can do many different effects with the same hook-up; at the same or different locations!

My vote is for the Animator. I like Jon's hook-up and ease of handling.

I have to say I love them both!
The Floating Cigarette is a great attention getter prior to doing a series of close-up work switching to the Animator! Poppa Jim Mitchell http://www.toys-n-art.com

How about levitating a straw from one drink to another?

I just can say this..
Way back in 1987 at a convention in Reinbeck near Hamburg (unless I mix up the location and that convention wasn't at all at that place), I saw a very young man carrying an attache case around, doing that very same floating cigarette and I only was a couple of feet apart watching it. It was an outstanding effect and to this day I have no idea regarding his hook-up. That guy might as well have been Steve Fearson. I don't know. In any case he hadn't a moustache at that time.

With the Fearson hookup, you can cause a cherry in a cocktail to float up out of someone's glass to your mouth...wanna see some jaws drop? I heard someone say they'll never touch another drop, after that routine, LOL!

I once used the Fearson hook-up to float a piece of sausage from a pizza. Fun times.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".
