Young, inexperienced magicians BEWARE!!!

The green dye used in certain feather flowers and spring bouquets bought between 1990 and 2000 is highly unstable and tends to rub off on plastic, silk, ANYTHING it is stored on top of, under, etc., etc., etc.

The yellow switch cap on my large Wellington Magic Switchboard is permanently yellow/green because of this problem.

Therefore: store feather flowers and spring flowers separately, wrapped in their own plastic, or THE GREEN WILL COME OFF!!!

This is especially true of the cheap imported feather stuff from India.

Like Richard said, beware the cheap imported ones. I've had cheap bouquets turn my arm / sleeve green. Richard's did not. He uses a higher quality dye and also better feather. But there is still the risk.

So, to avoid getting the bouquets wet from water or perspiration (just makes sense), use a holder before production (you know where), etc. Richard introduced these to me.

You should NOT STORE the bouquets in the plastic sleeves (personally, I replaced my plastic sleeves with cardboard mailing tubes, for when transporting... avoids the bouquets in the plastic sleeves being crushed), but rather store them out in the open, so the flowers open up.

Another great idea, is to make a cardboard or coreplast box to store the bouquets in, in the open position, with a removable top. I think I read about this in Ken and Roberta Griffin's book, "Illusion Show Know-how."

I also use a cardboard mailing tube for transport and it has worked very well for me.

LOL my arm was green one day too!

Of course I shouldn't have been wearing a suit that day, my arm was probably 150 degrees..... CELSIUS.

Sure allows the needle to go in easier tho.

Okay I'm going to go ramble someplace else now.

To buy a prop is nothing.
To write a good routine is something.
To really entertain an audience is everything.
