...and I'm thinking that the NFL is lucky that they didn't go on strike this year, because if the highlights are any indication, the LFL puts out an EXCELLENT product. Never mind the novelty of it, the spectacle, the touchdown celebrations and scantily-cladness, if you watch them, they're running hard and tackling harder, getting creative with the play calling, the defences get wise to trick plays over the course of the game, the quarterbacks are hitting the receivers en route and at speed, the players are diving for balls, they're throwing stiff-arms and breaking tackles...

In other words, good football. Frankly, it's already better than the CFL, although that isn't saying much.

A look into the ops shows a bit of unfortunate shenanigans (such as injured players not getting properly treated medically, which should be a big no-no) but otherwise it's a really impressive show.

Any of you Yanks taking advantage of this?

I mean, look at this.

Go here and jump to 1:38, and tell me if that's not an outstanding play.

EDIT: Erm, some not-safe-for-work language after that point during the halftime speech. Fair warning...

Hard to read when the pages are stuck together, though.
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats

One of my favourite science fiction stories of all time was first published in Playboy. Didn't own the magazine, but bought the short-story collection.
