Asian arrived either in Vancouver, BC; SF & LA, CA.
European's came through NY & Ellis Island.

SF was where the inttermint or holding area...I don't
remember what it called. But its riddled with Ancient
Chinese Ghosts...

My great grandfather & Grandmother and his brother
came through NY. At least I believe so. His brother
stayed in NY. I need to find their naturalization
papers. Eventually my G-GF & G-GM settles in Chicago.
No surprise with all the Polish people!

My father, his grandfather, uncle & cousin came through
LA. My great-grandfather had already made a life for
himself in LA. I think hand laundry or something. I forget.
He was a character. My dad talks about him at times.

There was a point in California that there were so many
Chinese (specifically) that they were run out of California
and they moved out to Montata and Wyoming.

People did not like how they looked, dressed, the way theie
eyes slanted, talked. How clever and intelligent they were.
So that was the reason for them being rushed out of Califonia.

Until 1959 there was a law in California also, that inter-racial
marriages were against the law. And that for each year until
I believe 1960, only 105 Asian (not sure if it specific) were
allowed to become US Citizen's a year.

My father served for a country he was not a citizen for, but what
was most important that came out of it, was that his service
ultimately helped him because a US Citizen in 1955.

In SF the entry was via Angel Island. If you get a chance to visit it is very interesting. They have a collection of poems written on the walls there. You can do searches on both entry points for people by name, arrival date, ship etc.. There were a great many people from countries that were not welcomed here, the Asians don't own that. There are countries still that don't want immigrants.

I didn't say that the Asians owned anything.
I was pointing out historical referenced about
Chinese immigrants and how it affected my
father and what I learned from my ancestory.

As far immigration, even Canada has become much
strictor.

You need to visit the SF area. By the way, your dad and mom were/are people who I really admire in the art. Your dad is one of the legends of magic.
