Lose the picture of the pet. It is adorable, but no need to have on a magic website. Also, under bio, "living rooms" doesn't strike me as a particular lucrative venue, and you may want to contemplate how you are positioning yourself to your target market. Don't put your age, or that you're not quite sure what you will be doing with your magic. The site is there to sell YOU, and your magic, to a client. If it doesn't help do that, it should probably be removed as it is more than likely detracting. Also, who is calling your set "30 minutes of hilarious, incredible, and pure entertainment." Without a quote attribution, it seems a bit self-serving and potentially false.

The layout looks nice, and it's obvious that you have a great head on your shoulders and value an aesthetically pleasing website. Best of luck with everything, and I'll be looking forward to following your career!

Thanks Kevin, all those points are valid and I'm right back to the drawing board (or control panel I should say.)

Hi Mike,
You have 3 of the biggest no-no's in web design honest tis true .... and if you don't believe me please do some research.
1. You have a splash page see here: http://www.shimonsandler.com/splash-page......for-seo/
2. Music on the site: http://www.webequip.co.uk/opinion_music_on_websites.asp
3. A site in flash: http://skyje.com/2010/11/flash-website/

You can have the same sort of site without the flash and bells and whistles!
Please reconsider!

That's a great place to be. My first website was when I was 17, and I have learned SO much since then. You have a great career ahead of you, should you choose to pursue it!

I really appreciate the time you took to show me those links. I checked them out and right now I'm going to take off my splash page. I may be more receptive to changing my Flash based site in the new year but for now I'll see how it goes. Thanks!

I'll echo the same thing, although I will also add that it depends how you will be using it. If you don't care about people finding you online, and want to rely SOLELY on word of mouth marketing and business cards, flash can work fine for you. Also, by using proper title/description tags on your home page and keeping them consistent, you can rank well for 1-2 keyword phrases with a flash site.

The biggest thing will be getting incoming links. If you so desire, and aren't already familiar, start reading anything and everything about SEO. I recommend SEO for Dummies and a few other books, but then you will want to delve into blogs, online articles, etc for more up to date information. It's a deep rabbit hole (no pun intended), but it can pay some major dividends.

Mike:

Regarding "Wong" vs "Wang": I knew what your last name was, but I was trying to point out that with the font you used it is not clear. With that font, it could be an "a" or an "o".

Also, have you tried accessing your site on different mobile platforms? If someone sees you at a public performance and wants to know more, they might do a search for you on their phone and go to your web site right then. Will your flash play? If not, do you have alternate pages if a mobile browser is detected, or that the client can choose if they can't view your main site?
