Knowledge prevents perception!

Knowledge permits perception!
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Knowledge influences perception.
And perception is reality.
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

Knowledge has no influence on reality.

Knowledge influences college.
College encourages consumption.
Consumption alters perception.
Therefore, knowledge and perception are related through weak syllogisms.

The policeman sees a bank robber and so pulls his gun out and tells the robber to stop or he will shot him. The robber just ignores the cop and so the cop shoots. It has no effect and so the cop hits robber with his gun, but the gun passes right through the bank robber! The bank robber says to the cop. “Listen son you can’t hurt me with one of them perceptions of realty guns. Go back to the station and get a real one like this.” Then the robber hit’s the cop on the head with a real gun. The cop walks back to the station with a big lump on his head looking at his perception of reality. Smile

I think that is not a beach, but a tunnel. Tommy is seeking escape from the Island Prison of his perceptions.

I know because I'm doing right now.
I know because I did
I know because I saw it done
I know because I saw the evidence of it having been done
I know because someone showed me
I know because someone showed me the evidence of it having been done
I know because someone told me
I know because I read it
***

interesting how we don't have a proper conjugation for that verb "to know"

add a few more to the list if you feel up to it.
and perhaps keep the list ordered by some sense of "subjective certainty" or similar.

I know you can do it. I have faith.

What do you fellows know about Precepts?

I don’t know much about it myself. It seems to me: What we know or how we know it is unimportant to the idea that knowledge can prevent perception of realty. Precepts are why its hard to do magic for the innocent minded native or child, or the dog? The audience must know its not real magic and know what we do is impossible and so on but how they know dose not matter does it?

Not sure there is any substance beyond the semantic to "knowledge can prevent the perception of reality."

Regarding the two "knows" of the dilemma, I would say that "how they know," matters a great deal, and will be a combination of what they bring to their role as audience from their culture and personal experience, plus the messages (both of them) that are intrinsic to our performance whether we recognize it or not. The latter is what we can control. The former is what we try to be cognizant of. Having the awareness and flexibility to put these together is the hard part.

Ok that is fine. All the things you are mentioning seem tangentially related. Possibly I am just not seeing it, but where do you want to go with all that?
