I was gonna say something like this:

Now however, I won't.
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

It looks like the Chavez Magic School pose pictured in my original post above.

Notice the position of the right hand? This lets the audience know you are about to do some magic... Smile

My bad.
Perhaps better would have been
"A magician should look like they're doing the impossible."

If not, so what.

Since a magician is an actor playing a character, it would seem that the magician should seek to look like whatever that character would look like.

Since each magician's character will be different there shouldn't a right way for a magician to look. A street magician would certainly look different from a magician at a formal dinner.

On the other hand since all magicians are presenting someone who has control of the physical world around them, seems like a touch of class would be impied.

What should a magician look like?

If I'm doing my Chinese presentation, I dress like a China man.

Otherwise I pretty much do a Whit.

Well..what does that look like?

I have an idea: Maybe the question is ridiculous in the first place.

A couple of fun answers, though.

It's like Dracula, sometimes it looks like a human being.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Oh, uh, okay. My bad.

In that case, I think a magician should be about 6'4", around 180, fit, clean shaven, muscular, have a fine-cut jaw, be a really sharp dresser, and be fairly well endowed. I say that because if he's concerned about what a magician "should" look like and whether he makes the cut, he's going to need every other advantage possible to get along in life.

Looks like about twenty to thirty years... Smile

Nice threads, Vick, but a little dated, don't you think?
