I am looking to buy a table like the ones used at the Magic Castle for close up performances...half round style with felt top and fringe around the sides. Can these be purchased anywhere of will I need to make one from scratch. If there are any posts on this also could you please direct me to one. Thanks

Home Depot used to sell round wooden table tops that could easily be screwed onto a variety of bases, and had all the parts so you just chose the parts, stained and painted and assembled. If you cut the top in half and bought two bases, you'd be set. Assuming they still sell this stuff like they used to.

As soon as I get caught up on a few things I will be making Tabby a couple of half round close up tables.

I think he has made these tables before, for the folks at Hollywood Magic.
I don't think they are retailing them any more, but Dave could make a 'one of' I'm sure!

If you ever have the chance, check out the close-up table that Dean Dill has in his "Shoppe"...

This is probably the easiest table to make. Get 3/4" thick birch plywood, have the place you buy it from cut the half circle or do it yourself with a sabor saw. Purchase 3 pre-cut legs from the same place you purchased the wood. The legs come with a threaded bolt in the top. Purchase the hardware to screw the legs into.

Cover with Pool table felt, on top of some foam. The findge can be purchased at any fabric store. Staple or tack the felt to the underside of the table while stretching.

I was at Lowe's a little while ago buying some materials to build a new workbench and they had several sizes of round table tops in the plywood section. Im sure HD must have something similar. Reasonable prices for the rounds too. You could get two tops from one of those.

Thanks Ray. I can't wait to start using them. Should be perfect for my card and chip magic. Think about some non-skid rubber feet. I will probably be using it doing bar magic at the new biker bar down the road and I want to put it on top of the bar. I worked there last week and had a blast - literally!

Well yes, of course. I'll just have to find some small rubber dots for the bottom of the feet.
