No, it wasn't a major thing... unless, of course, you had just cut your last piece of expensive birch plywood 1/4" too narrow...

I fiberglassed the curves under my drop in table to day.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......able.jpg Yes I know this is not the way the plan said to do it. |

This is how I handled the 2 inch discrepancy on the back of the illusion.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......ixed.jpg I have seen this handled 4 different ways, this is the way I think looks best. the first thing I did was take off the top black stripe on one side of the top box, next on the bottom box I put a black stripe that tapers from 1 1/2 inches at the top to 1 inch at the bottom. I was very happy with how the curves under the table came out http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......able.jpg |

The problem with zig Zag is that it looks dated. Has anyone thought of doing a Zig Zag with the shape and art work of Modern Art. I have build 4 Zig Zags and think I have it worked out.

Since the exposure, a gazillion people have lined up to tell me how the old Zig Zag works. Now, it sits on a high shelf in the warehouse, next to the Shadow Box, as a reminder that we are just a commodity as performers and you either improve or fade away.
Another way to present it might be what's called for? How about laying it on it's side like a girl without a middle? If the center section was raised it might look like a different illusion. The assistant, then, should be painted to look like she's on her side or laying on her back and the dimensions could be changed so it's more flat then tall. Who's going to make it first?

They haven't fooled my audiences for the last several years and we do a lot of illusion shows. The people come up after and tell me exactly how they work.

I am working on the drawer slides this week. I am using Knape & Vogt 84000PR 16 inch heavy duty drawer slide. If you know of a better one let me know.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......ront.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......side.jpg I am amazed how well thought out the plans are, as this slide fits just right. |

Actually, the professionally-built ones I have seen do not use drawer slides, but a set of two (male/female) wooden or Delrin dovetailed slides, much like some dining tables. This allows the top to be removed for storage.
I originally built mine with the slides, and then changed them out to slides I made from Delrin plastic. Something like this might also be an option: http://www.davesanders.com/catalogdownload/sect05.pdf

To put on the slides so they can be removed I used velcro. Cut 1 inch by 1 inch to length and mount these on the slides, put male velcro on the outside of these blocks
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......lock.jpg then mount to the table drop in http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......N/in.jpg and http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/....../out.jpg I put the female velcro on the inside bottom of the top box, http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/......0573.jpg aand stuck the two togather. |

Looks good. I don't know if the plans indicated velcro, but strong velcro can wear out after repeated uses. I would have used T-nuts or wingnuts, but that's just my personal preference- velcro should give more surface area for the parts to grip.
