Okido fellow enthousiasts, another perhaps useless but nevertheless fun discussion ... what Tenyo tricks, apart from being excellent/good/bad, are just a pain in the *ss to perform when you follow the manual’s guidelines? I mean/in other words, what tricks are really hard to 'get the hang of' ... ?

These are my 'favourites' ...

  • Spongeball routines: every trick with them. I am NOT a professional magician because, cudos, I am a pretty laisy person when it comes to practicing “sleight of hand” magic ... . Spongeball routines need sleight of hand practice so … .
  • Rabbit In Wallet: you really need to practice the paddle move A LOT – Mystic Ruby is quite easy but this one, while being an EXCELLENT trick, is hard to perform as it should be performed … .
  • Billiard Balls: aah … when there’s one Tenyo trick that needs sleight of hand and a LOT of practice it’s this one! I bought it and will NEVER use it Smile
  • Fantastic: a matchbox with candles on the front changes the color of the candles … very rare and when performed right an excellent trick, but VERY hard to do, believe me! I’m never going to perform this trick to be honest …
  • Wandering Hole: the yellow plate is very hard to move … this is on purpose so spectators can examine the plate. Ok for me, but it is VERY hard moving the plate without causing suspision … or is it just me ?
  • UltraSlice: Cormatches does it as it should be, but this requires practise I believe … .
  • Bolted: excellent trick, a lot of practice needed!
  • and some more

Lucifer's Lock for me lol, I have understand nothing in the instuctions....

Ultraslice is very easy I found, it's one of my favorite Tenyo tricks. Cormatches made the mistake of too much turn and return of the case, just one is more fluid and impressive I think.

The Haunting looks not easy to perform too.

Indeed Davy, however it is easy to perform, but you are right; it is hard to do it withouth causing suspision when performing certain moves ... .

The first time I perform Fortune donuts it was a pure disaster. The total disgrace. But I did not want to train for not wasting a disc, I should have!

So true! Though ... Hankie P. supposed to be a very good trick when performed ok I think ... . Magicpatagonia needs to do an example on Youtube. What do you think Cormatches?

For me, Impossible Pen is nearly impossible. I probably just need a lot more hours in on it, and it *is* gorgeous, but the "cutting" portion I just can't get the hang of. Boy is it neat, however.

Isn't Squeeze Play supposed to require good practice, too?

Worked the first time I tried it Nicolino, but you do have to p*** something indeed, but in this trick it isn't very difficult imho.

Superpixel, that's one of those tricks I have never performed for people, I always thought it was easy to perform but you made me doubt ... Smile

I have well in excess of 200 Tenyo tricks in the collection and to be honest there is probably 10 I can pull out and perform well at anytime. Most of the tricks require practise (as does any magic trick) and or remembering a sequence of moves and if not performed frequently are easy to forget. Moons of Jupiter is technically easy but difficult to remember the sequence of moves if you don't perform it often.

I love the paddle tricks and have collected a number of these as well. Tenyo's Rabbit in Wallet and Mirrror Mate are two that I find easy to do.

I would agree that Impossible pen is tricky to perfom smoothly on a consistent basis. This is one where the noise factor is tough to justify although I do love Lubor's stuff!

For me Vanishing Point is a real challenge to do well, I like the concept but it is angle sensitive.

Mystery China Box is a bit difficult to perform without practice.

It can be a real pain if your not versed in a natural movement when manipulating the box.

JM that is very true. Every time someone has visited me and wanted me to perform a trick from the 'Forbidden cabinet of mystery' I caught myself to be very enthousiastic but then realizing I cannot perform the effect! Tenyo's manuals are very well written but this means often you have to follow a certain number of steps/movements in a particular way which doesn't make it easy at all when you haven't performed the trick for some time.

Houdini, true true, I've been caught numerous of times when I 'move' the secret part with my finger - I now move the box up and down when doing the secret move, but I'm sure there are better alternatives.

Mystery China box is a favorite of mine as well. I have never been caught by a spectaor with it (perhaps they are being kind). You definitely want to keep the box below their eye level to help block the action. The amount of movement required is actually quite minimal, key is to keep the hand looking relaxed. I also involve spectators in selecting colors, passing the beads to me, and at times dropping them in themselves. This helps distract them from you minimal actions.

Aah, stuff that stuffs-up! Wonder Window can aggravate ya to no end. Current costs associated in pursuing 1 that actually works, now equal to our national lottery jackpot payout. Infinitum, The Moons Of Jupiter, Mystic Blackboard & Synchro Boxes all jam every so often, makin' 'em a little dodgey & unpredictable when performing. Money Shredder just does whatever it feels like doin' at the time. Rope To Silk wants Viagra every so often to stand straight. The Wandering Hole is truly possessed by some sinister, nefarious dark force that I am yet to understand. X-Ray File can only be read by someone with 100/100 vision with stadium lighting or someone with dormant friendly neighbourhood Spiderman super powers. Fortune Donut works consistently only with a super glue/vise combination.

X-Ray File seems to be an improvement to John Cornelius' Thought Transmitter, which is a great effect in of itself if performed correctly.
