Does anyone know any comedy ideas for the ring and string routines?

I use my own ring because I've dropped a ring in the past. To prove it's solid I tap it on a glass and then sheepishly say "don't tell my wife I do that". Sometimes with kids I will tap it on their head (not too hard) to prove it's solid. The things I get away with...

If you do a really nice move where both ends of the rope are held by two different members and the ring melts off the middle, you can ask the first person to make sure it's solid and just give the end a jerk then ask the second spectator to do the same. And then say ladies and gentlemen, a rope with a jerk on each end. Not my style of comedy or audience interaction by any means, simply a line that I heard a Rodney Dangerfield type of magician use once.
