It's been a few years since I did fire eating. But this week I was on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and felt an irresistible pull. I went back to my hotel and put together a set of torches. No hat, just for the fun of it. I thought I'd share a few pics:



I love the first image. It's an optical illusion; you are really seeing the the path of the flame of the torch closest to you as it is moving, it was nowhere near my face.

Update: I take it back. Upon looking at other photos I just realized that in the first photo I was doing a tongue transfer. But movement of the flame is responsible for the more dangerous appearance. It was fun to get back in the saddle!

I used to eat fire at SCA events--now I have a beard.

Looks great! At least it probably covered up that unique "urinal smell" so ever presenton Bourbon Street!
