Your not familiar with the FOB by david Penn ? It allows you to have a signed card or bill appear in a small plastic case. Same type of idea as jay sankey and paper clipped. I want to vanish a signed bill and then have it appear in the FOB device but I 'm struggling with how to vanish it. I'm considering using the tool gimmick but I'm not convinced that will be a smooth way to solve the problem.

Baseball13,
Welcome to the Café.
This is the wrong place for exposing methods.
After you have 50 posts, there will be more information available to you.
Perhaps some members can recommend books or DVDs for bill vanishes.
Questions are welcome but exposure is not.
Perhaps if you tell us how you are vanishing a bill now (without expposure), someone may help with a more "creative way".

Mr Ihop loyal user please let me know how I exposed a method in my post so I don't do it again. What exactly did I say that exposed anything? Thanks for your help.

Baseball13,

I didn't think you were exposing methods.
I thought you were asking for exposure.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I should have been more clear.
Perhaps, you can ask for book or DVD recommendations for bill vanishes.
I would help if I could but I don't much of a library to make recommendations.

Doug Brewer - Bill vanish perfected
Sleight of hand e.g. switch or FT & vanish, then handwash?
Richard Sanders - Anyring (?) hank vanish
John Lovick book - Switch (many adaptable methods)

Or pm David Penn / ask WMS for recomendations..

All will require practice etc. but some will match the fold better...

Really? I don’t see where he's asking for exposure at all. I thought it was a very reasonable question.

It seems to me that most members here ask similar questions when they wish to be pointed toward resources they can use rather than outright exposure. Which is perfectly reasonable IMO, what with "Magicians Helping Magicians" and all. Smile

Thanks!

Jim,
You're right. I don't know why I responded the way I did.
I previously read a few posts asking for exposure and, I suppose, I had a knee jerk reaction.
Again, my apologies to the OP.

Who wants to tell a clueless old magician what FOP is? I lost my copy of the magicians code book.

Hi al. It is FOB as in Key Fob. A plastic container on your key ring that you can make a signed card, or bill, appear in.

Does Penn give any suggestions on how to vanish the bill?
Perhaps a bill change.

I don’t know - the demo is rather plain. IMO the FOB itself looks kinda cheap.

Use of a bill with FOB is rather pointless unless you first show that you already have a bill in the FOB, the first dollar you ever made as a magician. It's your lucky dollar. Then borrow a bill and offer to make it a lucky bill for the owner. Have the owner write down the serial number and perhaps sign the bill somewhere. That makes it somewhat lucky, but to seal in the luck, you need to apply fire. Then the bill has to disappear in a flash of flame ( I assume we all know how that works!). Then you tell the spectator he now has a lucky dollar bill and he should never go anywhere without it. When he puts up an argument that you destroyed his lucky bill, say "Nonsense. A lucky bill can not be destroyed by magic. It is BORN in magic. Look at MY lucky bill." You open up the FOB and LET THE SPECTATOR REMOVE THE BILL. "Open it up." When he does he sees his name. Get him to verify the serial number. "Those are now lucky numbers. Be careful where you play them, you might win big." When they ask what happened to YOUR lucky bill, you remind them that a "lucky bill cannot be destroyed by magic. It is BORN in magic." Remove YOUR lucky bill from your pocket and return it to the FOB for the next time. The details on how to do all of this are included on the DVD that comes with FOB. But you have to put the naked details together and bring out the magic for your audience.

Vanishing with a hank always looks flashy, flourishy and builds suspense while setting up for the vanish.

Baseball13, I've been doing it using the "Vernon Coin Steal" which goes by several names...I thing it's in Bobo as Coin to Key, and Mike Rubinstein teaches it on his coin DVD set. This is the way Joe Monti is performing FOB as well. While the spectator is holding your wrist, the bill is in the exact position it needs to be for the move taught on the FOB DVD.
