I was looking on you tube and I found Harry Lorayne Amazing Prediction revealed. A kid who else. Is this what magic has come to.
Kids today want it the easy way. What happened to keeping magic secret. I know you have to reveal magic to keep it going but not like this. |

Mentioning it on a forum like this makes it worse. I sure wouldn't have known that it existed had you not mentioned it. Now, those who "care" will search for it. But...
You just took me back over half a century. I walk into Tannens Magic Shop and see/hear a boy, perhaps 13/14 years old, performing and then explaining my Out of this Universe to someone. He does both - the performing and the teaching - oh so badly; no not badly - terribly! But, the person watching/listening to him calls over Jim Herpick (who worked behind the counter at Tannens all those decades ago)and asks, "Is Out of this Universe in Harry's book? Yes? I want it." And he buys Close-Up Card Magic. So, who knows? Good or bad? HL.

You definitely have my sympathy on that one. In that one case it worked in your favor, but in most cases I imagine it wouldn't. One other point is that while I've never been to Tannens, in any magic shop I've ever set foot in that kid would have been thrown out for trying to give away something that the shop sold. Am I out of line for thinking that Mr. Herpick should have tossed the kid out on his ear before the kid revealed the secret? |
