Is there a way to mix up the deck with some cards facing down and others facing up, then bang they are all mysterously facing down (or up)?
I have seen this done in a magic store in Atlanta, but never got the chance to find out what it was called. |

That demonstration sounds like a Slop Shuffle to me.
It does require a sloppy mix of face up and face down cards and a cut and reversal at the natural break to correct all. It is a very old effect that had me fooled when I first saw it. I really do miss the days when simplistic methods were perplexing.

Triumph is not the name of the trick that I mentioned in original post at the top. The nameless trick that I mentioned is all done in the hands without a table. It's extremely easy to do.
I just viewed the video that LongDuckChang mentioned from youtube. It's Triumph done by someone name Mystico, and wow he is good. Mystico does a fantastic job of the Pass as well. I Recently learned one version of Triumph yesterday, but Mystico does it better and I cannot figure out how he does it. Fooled me completely. It sounds like they did a Slop Shuffle followed by a secret cut or pass, like a Charlier or one-handed cut. Phil Thomas, the Baltimore Magic Dealer used to do this, and also used it as a way to separate the red and black cards for a follow up effect.
