We've got a really good group of guys in our Ring and we have a great place to hold meetings (Science Museum of our State!), but one thing we've struggled with for several years is trying to find a place to hang out either after the meetings or between meetings.

The idea place would be a privately owned restaurant/bar that would welcome us and allow us to venture out among their customers if we so desire (with some exceptions, for sure). Certainly no improper material.

We have yet to find the right place and I'm looking for some ideas from you guys. Any good ideas on a public place to gather that will let us be to ourselves, but also venture out and entertain their customers as we try out new material.

There's very few working magicians at restaurants here, so it's not like we're stepping on anyone's toes. We just want a place to hang out and have a good time and get some real people face time instead of doing tricks for other magicians all the time.

Any tips from anyone?

Thanks in advance-

Why not for starters, just find a place to hang out, have dinner, drinks and some conversation? Build a rapport with the place as regular customers before ever springing the magic on them. Let them find out later. Then start by showing the waiter or bartender a cool trick. Don't give them every trick you have. Curb it and make everyone in your group agree to the terms. Then later, if the staff has come to know you and they like you, they might ask you to do some magic for other people they know (other regulars, other employees).

Patience, grasshopper.

That's what we do in Atlanta, GA - there is an Appleby's nearby, and when our meeting lets out they are pretty quiet. So if ten or so of us go over there, there is no problem getting tables.

They don't treat us specially in any way, but we aren't asking for anything except to get tables and food. It works out quite well.

Thanks Guys- we've been hanging out at various chains, but no one ever seems to stay there long enough to know us as regulars!

We'll keep looking. Perfect, dream place would be a privately owned restaurant with a small bar Smile
