Today I purchased the Oddballs & Orphans "Cat" figure through the Gottle O' Geer website.

I really thought hard about this one as I'm not really an animal figure kind of guy, but there certainly is something about him that takes him beyond simply being another animal puppet and I'm sure he'll fit into my show very well.

I tried to do some research on Kristin L and her Oddballs & Orphans before making my decision, but nothing really turned up accept for one or two threads on this forum. I know Paul Zerdin's baby is one of them but only really discovered that afterwards.

I'd love to read what people have to say about them if you have one or even seen one before.

I have one (the old man figure) and I sold a Caterpillar. I really like them, but they are rather small. But a lot of character, yet simple. Cool figures and hard to get.

I've been trying to get a "human" one, but no luck there so my next choice was the Cat. I know it's smaller than the human versions and I hope I won't be disappointed by that when he arrives.

If ever you want to be relieved of your old man figure let me know Rob Smile

The only ones I really like are the people ones, so I would say the same thing, but I'm not buying anything from outside the country any more.

I believe she was the person who created Jeff Dunham's Melvin the Superhero.

I could be wrong but I remember that on the bonus feature of one of Jeff Dunhams DVDs he documented how he sculpted and built Melvin himself, although he had someone else do the casting .

Jeff recreated Melvin for the DVD - the original was one of Kirstin's Oddballs & Orphans.

I was unaware of that. He gave the impression on the DVD that Melvin was his original creation from concept to finished figure.

Well I guess that Melvin is his original creation from start to finish because it doesn't look anything like a typical Oddballs & Orphans

I am now confused.

If Melvin built by Jeff looks nothing like an Oddball and Orphan figure how is it a recreation of an Oddball and Orphan figure and how can Kristan L be credited with creating the original Melvin?

The story goes that Kristen L was at Vent Haven one year with some of her figures, Dan Horn took a fancy to a particular one and had spent some time looking at him. Eventually he put it down and moved on to the next table. At this point Jeff Dunham approached her table and started messing about with the same figure and liked it so he bought it, this figure was his original Melvin. Later he decided to create a new Melvin himself and that's the one we see today.

Aussie,
Thank you very much for the clarification. I am no longer confused.
Perhaps some day Jeff Dunham will recreate one of my figures Smile

Or maybe you'll get the opportunity to recreate one of his!
