I'm watching my shows on video and I realized that I have an issue.

My sound for the puppet is not constant.

I can start the right tone and pitch but after a few minutes, it seems to change in the tonality and the pitching.

So how do you guys maintain the same sound during the show?

I bring my own sound technician in all of my local shows Smile

Aside from the show assistants, another person handles the sound system on his own. From the set up to the actual show. Smile

In case the venue has it's own sound system, my sound technician does dot set up our own sound system anymore, he hooks up our mic and music player to the built in sound system but he adjusts the sound quality to our own specifications. Smile

Do you mean sound as in system? Or sound as in - voice/tone/pitch?

If voice/tone/pitch - that is a matter of practice. I'd recommend you hit the voice with a tag phrase so you know you have it, then say a line from your script. Practice that line until you like the way it sounds. Repeat the tag phrase to make certain you are "on voice" and then say the next line from the show.

Doing this, you learn how to keep the voice and it's nuances throughout the routine because you will know exactly what it should feel and sound like.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Wanlu, I'm referring to the voice/tone/pitch. Smile

And thanks Tom, for the tip. I'll try it out.

Oops Smile  Sorry Smile

In any case, a good sound technician can be handy in a vent act. Smile The setting of a sound system varies and depends on the size of the crowd as well as the accoustics of a venue so each show has different settings.

You must have a long routine with a specific character which is probably why your voice tone or
pitch gets different at the latter part of the act.

In the case of my characters, I do have a trigger phrase for each voice but my act for each character is rather very short, just 5-10 minutes tops so its easier for me to maintain the voice tone. My only difficult character is my grumpy old man, Don Dominador.

Yes, each of my puppet is about 10 minutes. Is that long?
