I recommend Dave Bartlett's "You are more valuable than your balloons" class.
I took it at TMJ last year and was great. Very useful.

I'm jealous of all of you going to T& S, make sure you post how it went on your return!

have a great time,
Danny

I wish I could go to all of the classes. It is tough to decide which classes to take or not to take. What is a "can't miss" for one person, might not be that important for someone else. For me, the can't miss classes are the classes put on by Patrick van de Ven. I love his stuff, and I hope to pick up a new technique or nugget from him. I am also interested in attending Beatings classes. As far as I know, this is his first time teaching in the United States and I don't know when or if he will be back, so I want to take his class.

From past experience, I have used in my business a lot of what I have learned in the jam room in my work. I keep going back to pictures I have taken of stuff I found laying on a table or on the floor at previous conventions. To be honest, I probably use more information gleaned in the jams room than I do from the classes I have taken in the past, although the classes are always great.

Hey guys,

I am looking forward to my first twist and shout.

I was able to score a VIP pass to the Magic Castle. Does anyone want to share a cab to the castle? There is a dress code so you will need to bring a jacket and tie. I was planning on going to the castle Wed. since not much going on that night.

If you're going to Balloonalicious, I hope you enjoy George the Giant, my baby brother. He's planning a number of balloon-related sideshow stunts. Check him out at http://www.georgethegiant.com

Thanks to Docbarnes for the VIP passes, thanks to Mark for the tour of the Castle, thanks to Mike for holding the "Brit in the box", thanks to Billy, Paul and Karen for joining us, and I guess thanks to me for renting the mini bus. What a great time. Hope to see everyone in Chicago in 2010.

It was awesome. I picked up a bunch of really great new material I will be implementing in my balloon twisting business right away. Andrew Macdonald taught some really cute critters that can be used for line twisting. Although they can be done quickly, the sculptures he taught have the certain something that make them cute and adorable. Patrick Ven de Ven taught some animals using the Frumpletwist. I posted a picture of the black rhino I made based on this class over on BalloonHQ. He also taught a bird design that seemed to be the new favorite design of folks in the know. Beatings classes were great. He showed a new approach to balloon art using round balloons.

The competitions were awesome. The Japanese twisters all submitted pieces using double stuffing and balloon distortion techniques that mystified and amazed everyone. Rob the Balloon Guy's Jazz ensemble was amazing as well. He came up with some really great face structures and the whole piece was just awesome. My buddy Jack Mattson won Twister of the year with his Bear on Grass 1st place in the small competition and third place with his King Neptune piece in the large competition. There is more to say, but I got to get out of the door right now.
