The trick where you drop the rope in the bag and it ties itself around a card or something else.
is there a cadillac version of this trick, I've seen the cheap ones that exist out there like india or empire etc... whats it called and where can I find a good one?

This is a trick that has been in every one of the thousands of shows that I have done ove the past 22 years. I don't know what it is called, because I made my own version. I would also like to know what it is called.
Mikey You cam PM me if you would like to talk about the way I do it.

Mikey, I suggest you buy the Empire version just to get the gimmicks. Then glue them into your own rope that's much longer. Use regular magician's rope and remove a bit of the core, and white glue to hold everything together.

If all you want is the gimmick you can buy a linking rope set, and use the gimmicked part of that set.

I have been doing a version for years that doesn't use the gimmick rope. It works for me. It may even be the same thing that Al does. While I came up with this on y own, I'm sure I didn't invent it. PM me if you are interested.

Although I do use a gimmick that was experience exactly, I never read about it, or saw anybody do it, I thought it up myself, and until today I did not that it had a name. I do from 7 to 10 minutes around that silly gimmick, and it is one of my most popular audience participation tricks.

Like Al said, just get a set of linking ropes. You can do the card lasso PLUS the lining ropes with one set of props.
This is the set I use, it is made very well and is inexpensive: http://www.mymagicsupply.com/servlet/the......s/Detail There is a 10% off coupon for there, use the code grand10 when checking out.

I bought the Empire version and as with others I've seen as well, it's difficult to get a rope long enough to make a proper four sided tie around the card. Otherwise it probably IS easier just to make your own. With my Empire rope set, I can only tie one loop around two sides of the card and that isn't enough for a good effect.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

Denny & Lee has a real nice set of linking rope for $20. That Empire stuff doesn't look very professional.
