Nothing to do with magic, but anyway: My wife and I have been in a number of small groups over the years, I joined a new group Wednesday nights at my church that is currently reading through Corrie Ten Boom's classic "The Hiding Place." We read Chapter 13 "Ravensbruck" together this week, it was very hard to keep a dry eye. Just an incredible story on the importance of God's Word for WWII prisoners who had absolutely nothing else. They were thankful even for a small piece of newspaper that came along to cover up a hole in a drafty window. Betsie Ten Boom is my new hero and is a true champion of God. Just really puts everything into perspective...

Small Church groups are great.

I love reading not only the Bible,(Old and New Testament) but other things like the one you mentioned.

Last book I read...The cost of Discipleship by Boenhoeffer.(spelling??)

We share, we laugh and we cry together.

love and prayers....brother Harris

There is a movie of The Hiding Place, starring Julie Harris, which was made in 1975. It's very well done, and very moving! You can get a copy of the DVD here:

Great to hear from you Arthur! I use your music (cuts 4 and 5) when I can from your "CLASSICAL" CD- is perfect whimsical music for my head twister Smile I just purchased your CD at the 2013 FCM Convention from David Ginn (who also used this music twice in his lectures).

Not to mention Frampton's "Show Me The Way" was "our song" when my wife and I were dating... what keyboards! Just an honor that you would comment here. I will check out the "Hiding Place" DVD- I have never seen it- what a powerful story it is. I can imagine that Ravensbruck time period is no doubt in the movie.

Wow- I checked at http://www.youtube.com , all kinds of relevant stuff is posted there simply by putting "The Hiding Place" in the search box. The entire "The Hiding Place" movie was put on there by someone (should it be when the DVD is obviously still for sale?), but oh well, I watched the complete version today there for free. The movie is basically the middle section of the book with the early and late chapters missing. I can see skipping the early childhood portions, but I wish the later chapters were included which tell of how all of Betsie's "visions" became reality.

There are several long and interesting interviews posted with Corrie Ten Boom herself on youtube where she talks about this very subject/and how Betsie's 3 main huge post-war ideas all came true. Ms. Ten Boom always seems to talk with a knowing sparkle in her eyes, what an amazing hero.

Thanks for the idea above to look for the movie, I did not know it was so easy to actually find it (and not even have to pay for it to watch it).

The "hiding place house" is now a historic national museum http://www.corrietenboom.org in Holland.

This story is a terrific example of many Christian virtues including but not limited to forgiveness. God's providence is evident when he uses fleas to keeps the Nazi guards away.

If John de Vries was still around, he'd probably design an entire magic routine about the story of "The Hiding Place". I worked for John in 1971 (he was FCM President)- he really enjoyed doing long Gospel magic routines which had several phases based on either entire stories from the Bible or about Christian leaders in the last 200 years. His magic often included history lessons (see the Steve Varro/Dock Haley/John de Vries Ten Commandments "center tear" which has included in it a history of where the U.S. Post Office places mail boxes- this packs small/plays big Gospel trick is still available from Steve Varro). John had his own silk painter- he had entire Bible stories painted on silks which were produced in order while telling a Bible story.
