I have had serious thoughts about building a haunted house out of an old house somewhere. The effects I want must be taken as "the real thing".

Examples:

A rockingchair begins to rock by itself.

The doorknob turns by itself.

Knocking sounds appear in the walls.

I have ideas and solutions myself of how to do these things, but I wonder if there are any book or material you can recommend about this subject?

Check out Rick Maue's site and go through "The Chamber"... BUY RICK'S BOOKS & VIDEOS... that will give you the best start that IS NOT like all the others.

Samhain probably has some alternative thoughts on this line too.

You can also find fan web sites concerning Walt Disney’s Haunted Mansion. One of them is http://www.hauntedmansion.com that has “behind the scene” secrets to creating your own effects including - of all things - actual blue prints.

The idea is a GREAT one – charge admission – run it year long – it would rank right up there with the Winchester Mystery House – The Mystery Spot – and the Haunted Hill. (all California tourist spots)

I have to drop a line and say, you all are great, as I seem to find information I'm looking for, here at the Magic Café.

Just have to say 'Thank You' to all!

The idea of a haunted house with all these things sounds good, though some maybe difficult to make, considering I don't have an abundant supply of props. So good luck

Again, I recommend Rick's books & videos... they deliver a killer thriller for pennies on the dollar.

But Here's Some Other Sources...

Greetings,

These are great links. Might I also humbly suggest the halloween-l list on-line? These folks love my namesake and have excellent resources on simple and effective haunted attractions.

Dearly missing his haunted attraction days,
