I have just acquired Sid Lorraine's complete Frasnia Show, this is not a book or a few props that were for sale... THIS IS HIS ACTUAL SHOW!
Every prop he ever used during his tours from 1947 thru 1985, hand made and brilliant... and I mean brilliant comedy!

I want to thank David Ben for being so gracious in allowing a major part of Sid's Estate to come into my collection. Sid was a mentor that inspired me since I first saw him perform his Amazing Frasnia Show at the IBM Western Regional Convention in 1977.

It has been a long time since I have seen the show and now I pose a question. Does anyone have ANY video footage of Sid performing? Any pics, 8 by 10's?
I want to add as much propaganda to the exhibit as possible. I say 'exhibit' because I will eventually be opening a Museum commemorating Great Vaudeville Magic Talent, and Sid is going to be showcased.

If anyone has any info on where I can procure anymore Sid Lorraine paraphernalia, please pm me here Smile

Thank you,

I remember seeing Sid do "Frasnia" at a PCAM convention in the late 1970's. Like everyone else in the audience, we were totally taken-in by his hoarse voice and everyone was mumbling "get the poor guy a glass of water!" When he took a swig of Frasnia and his voice BOOMED out again, everyone realized they had been suckered! A GREAT memory of a great guy. Glad this classic routine is in good hands. I just can't imagine anyone doing it but Sid. Good luck, though. (And I love your caravan design!) David

There are some pictures of Sid performing the routine at an Abbott's Get Together in the 70's, I believe, in an issue of New Tops magazine. Just can't recall which one!

He got me too, I almost grabbed some water and thought about going backstage and bringing it out to him... and when he took FRAZNIA and his voice came back I WAS BLOWN AWAY..

SID WAS THE GREATEST.

Hi David

I must clarify, I am now in possession of his complete Frasnia show, but I have NO desire to perform it. These are now artifacts that have been used by a Great Performer, I want to preserve them in the best way possible and show them in my Museum one day.It is an honor to have his collection of props, but Frasnia was Sid's baby, and I will not be doing his show.

Hi Pete

I think that everyone that has had the pleasure of seeing Sid work his Frasnia Show must agree... he had us all squirming in our seats in hoping he would get a glass of water. Smile

I may be mistaken, but I think he did a column in "Tops". It's mentioned in the "Books" column of the Gen, No. 1, Vol. 5, May 1949.

Check Conjuring Arts.

BTW, "propaganda" has a negative context in American English.

October 1972 has pics of his performance at the Get Together, below is a brief excerpt from the review by Frances Marshall...

"Sid Lorraine, long a popular figure at Abbott's, cleverly presented a Then and Now version of "Frasnia", first as a street pitchman, then as a TV pitchman."
