I learned last April about the practice of deafing guinea pigs for use in front of an audience. Does everyone do this? Harry (Anderson) said he used to either hold one up to a drummer, or feed it pea soup and vodka---He tried the latter with one once and wound up with one drunk and pi**ed off piggy.

You will not find too many magicians who find it funny if animals are abused. Some members of the public already think this, wrongly in most cases. So we watch our backs closely on this type of thing for reasons of professional survival and human decency.

I like Harry, great act, but if he really does that it is wrong. Small animals given alcohol, even bigger animals like dogs, can die almost immediately....their bodies and livers cannot take it.
