Hey Ken,
Can you post a link for the "Kaboom Box"? I am curious as to it's design. I like to watch the competition Smile

Hi,
The problem I find with a lot of bunny productions, particularly the balloon popping type, is structuring a good enough routine around the prop. For me the rabbit production is a feature trick in my act and I do not want to simply show a balloon and bang there's the bunny.

In my show the child must produce (apparently) the bunny and I like the routine to have a good bit of magic beside the actual production. I also want the routine to play for 6 -10 mins and allow the birthday child to have fun and their personality shine through.

Funny you should say that. I do needle through balloon and then I put the balloon into the box and it turns into the bunny.

I do several balloon gags and wand bits. At the end it is 6-8 min routine letting the birthday child be the star.

I think Kovari's Pet Shop is the best. You can get a lot out of it with getting the kids to call out the names of the animals and their noises and then the rabbit appears in the pet shop.

Funny, no one has mentioned the mail box bunny production.

I bought one from Hocus Pocus. It is one of the most comfortable "for the rabbit" production items out there. It is very light and you can carry the rabbit in the item itself.

After loading the rabbit, I put a small battery operated funny looking duck six inches tall that stands on two feet like a penguin in front. I tell the children that the duck never behaves, so, they must keep an eye on it for me. When I turn away the duck walks off the table. I'm able to just catch it as it falls, this goes on for a while, I even get bitten by the duck.

While this is going on suddenly the rabbit walks out of the mail box while my back is turned and uses its nose to push the duck off the table.

Sheer riot and screaming!

I was thinking of using a square circle to produce things and then as the finale produce the rabbit. I have never used a rabbit before but I am planning on buying one in the next few weeks.
Den - would you ever consider selling any of your rabbit productions from the list you posted!? thanx!

Ken, you have a video on different methods of producing a live bunny. Could you tell me where I can purchase this?

By any chance would the video include some info on the Kaboom Box or any new methods to date?

Thanks.

I am new to this (this may be a stupid question)

I have been thinking about rabbit productions and want to know if there is a practical way to produce a bunny (live or not) out of my top hat after showing it empty.

If possible, what is a good beginner method to achieve this?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

I would suggest a live rabbit. Producing a dead one is not as fun.

Mark Wilson's has an easy method for rabbit from hat.

Har.

OK for the record, I meant a puppet or such.

I suspect you knew this and are attempting sarcasm.

Next time please make sure your sarcasm translates by putting it this way:

<sarcasm>example sarcastic comment</sarcasm>

<sarcasm>Thanks so much.</sarcasm>

Clear communication is a two way street. To make yourself more clear for next time, you could have said "real or not", rather than "live or not", when describing a rabbit.

P.S. I could tell Nick was joking without the use of editorial comments like <sarcasm></sarcasm>.

Richard,

Is the Mail Box Bunny Production still available? I did a search at the Hocus Pocus website and came up empty. I had never heard of this box before. Is it available elsewhere?

Yeah...sure...like I'm sarcastic.....

wait..was that sarcastic?

*** it! I can't even tell myself anymore!!!

I notice that Tilford's Kaboom box seems similar to the Funhouse by Wolf. Is this a case of an old idea with different styles?

I know that Tilford does use Wolf's styles in some of his other products (permission or not?)

Hello Regan.
I was lucky to get one of the "mail box bunny production".
The entire outfit ways just about nothing, it is so light and sturdy, this will last forever.
I herd that its on back order at the moment, but keep trying.
