Man, I was about to buy these on VHS. I had no idea that they were to be released on DVD!!!! Thank you so much for the heads up. Now I can make the correct purchase.

Thank you again for the information. Smile

Isn't these the same ones that came out on video a few years back from A-1 Mulitimedia?

Yes they are... but it looks like he has added an item to each DVD (Wait Until Dark and Last Man Standing), somewhat of a bonus... Now is it worth it to buy them again? That choice is up to you...

Peo,

Could you review the videos? Are they worth getting or are the books a much better buy? Thanks....

In terms of the material-to-cost ratio, the books are definitely a better buy. However, if you don't have them yet and don't want to wait til next year's reprint to find out what all the fuss is about, get the videos to tide you over.

Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

To be fair to Mistro: when he/she says "boy I wish they were on DVD", he/she means: "boy I wish the copies I own were on DVD".

I have the Impossibilia video. There are some good effects on it. I would say the skill level is mostly easy to intermediate - quite practical and doable. If I recall correctly, they're almost all close-up effects.

When I get a video or DVD, I am also interested in the stage presence and personality aspects of the performance part, which can be as valuable as learning the "secret" of the effect. (In fact, although I am an avid reader, the stage presence/performance style aspects of magic are much easier conveyed via video or DVD. On that score, Mr. Bannon is not particularly dynamic.
