I'm going to take advantage of L&L's latest deal of buy one DVD set and get another one free. I'm buying Harry Lorayne's Best Ever series, but I'd like opinions from those of you who have the sets I've listed on what to choose for the other.

I am of intermediate skill and my main interest is cards and close-up with coins and other sleight of hand manipulation. I am considering a trip down the road of mentalism, though. I've narrowed my list to:

Richard Osterlind's Mind Mysteries
Richard Osterlind's ETMMM
Alex Elmsley's Tahoe sessions
Bill Malone's On the Loose
Jeff McBride's World Class Manipulation

Thanks, all!

All of Jeff McBride's manipulation is awesome if you're willing to dedicate the time to practice.

Osterlind's Mind Mysteries is an excellent series. Simple, straightforward, and very effective effects. Be sure to watch the performances before you watch the explanations (duh), because you will have a "V8 moment" when you see how most of them are done.

I have both and they are one of the best investments I've made on mentalism!

Better than Mind Mysteries for someone new to mentalism?

I only have the first of the Mind Mysteries discs, so I can't speak for the whole series, but the ETMMM is perfectly fine for someone new to mentalism, in my opinion. I first bought 13 steps and Anneman, but ETMMM was my third mentalism purchase and it's great.

Bill Malone's On the Loose has a lot of stuff at your skill level ie sponge balls, matrix, id deck, Three Card Monte, bill switch, tricks that you will go back to after you spend a lot money on other crap. Bills presentation is the best high energy, but no mentalism.

Encyclpoedia of Coin Sleights is a 3 vol set with over 100 coin moves, many never published. If you do coins, its a great investment, and you will always use it not only for new moves, but for reference.

I took advantage of the offer too. I got confirmation that my order was shipped, but the online invoice showed that I was billed the full amount, even though the offer code is there too (both sets were L&L produced and on their list). Anyone else have this problem? I contacted them and will let you know how it goes.

Update: Just got a reply from L&L (do they have fast customer service or what) The online invoice doesn't reflect the discount, but the billing one does. I was only billed for one set.
