I'm suprised no one has commented on this DVD being the featured effect is a torn and restored card, usually a popular item....and a full restoration of a signed card I should say. The DVD is very well produced with top notch camera work and sound. It is kind of an odd DVD in how it is presented, Cameron is working for a fellow in kind of a chem suit in a tent like setting....odd but cool. The spectator guy is pretty good at projecting his feelings w/out speaking. The English are really deserving an attaboy for elevating the quality of DVDs in general over the last few years.

The main trick is Rehab which is the full restoration of a card after it is signed and torn up. First let me say Cameron is very stiff in his work and it may be the camera being there so he tightens up. It may look like the handling is stiffer than it really is but Cameron is stiff handed throughout the DVD and not just on this routine. That isn't an insult to him, I understand nerves, but if you watch just the performance you may think it is a bit unnatural while it isn't in application. To be honest, and I've not seen 'em all, this is the easiest full restoration I've run into. I learned it quickly and added my own flair but this really is something you can do tableside and all that good stuff. I like the Wagner handling still but this one is very good and you have a full restoration which really is better than the 3/4 of the Wagner and some others. Well worth looking into.

They could have released this as a single effect DVD like so many others but Cameron put in four other card routines and while not original they are all very good effects and some of his additions to Prophetic, adds to the routines. All four are effects I've done and use or used and I think I'll be adding all four handlings to my list. Nice to see that good card work was added and not just space filler.

Really a nicely done DVD with strong card magic in a world swimming in too much card magic. I'm inspired to look at Camerons other work now.

Thanks, MagicSanta! Glad ypu enjoyed it! The reason I wanted to put this out there is because it is more angle friendly than most. Plus, there isn't a lot of pieces to hold together. Also, as you stated, there's a lot of versatility possible in this effect; you can really make it your own.

Glad you enjoyed the other tricks as well.

We shot this at the same time as "Omega Mutation". Hence the reason for the odd setting and me performing for a guy in a weird suit. Smile

BTW, for those who have this, I have a new, improved, streamlined handling for "A Strange Visit". Haven't typed it up yet, but when I do, I'll let you know.

And yes, it is nice to see MagicSanta doing reviews again. Especially when he likes my stuff! Smile

Oh, I also worked with Snapped and love it, I have a funnier ending that you though....bummer eh? I did it at the bar at the local casino this afternoon and it went over real well. The bonus effects are, again, top notch. I'll do a reviewy thing later on it. I have to check out Omega now...dang it.

Total bummer! Smile

Nah, man, that's great! Make it your own. That's what it's all about, right?

BTW, Rehab is available from http://www.bigblindmedia.com both as a download and as a dvd. The download does not include the bonus effects.

Keeping in mind I went through school etc before personal computers were around I don't understand this stuff like those raised with them. When they say a download does that mean someone can buy the DVD and it is sent to their computer and they can watch it on the PC or make a copy on a disk? Excuse my confusion but the word 'download' has a lot of meanings it seems. Oh, I just saw that it doesn't have the bonus effects, go buy the durn DVD cuz the bonus stuff is cool.

The download is a Flash Player video file that you save on your computer. Kind of cool, though. It's like a self contained dvd player.

This is one of my favorites from Cameron and love his approach to this classic effect.

Cameron sent me a home video of this early this year and in my opinion, is a very nice solution for this effect.

I can see many strolling performers adopting this handling, as it hits the sweet spot on the easy/wtf meter.

I hope this gets the attention it deserves, as it's a rock solid approach for the real world, getting rid of a lot of the angle problems and still having killer visual restortations.

I like this alot!

Francis,

You say on your website that it's available only for PC as download... but if it's a flash video, I think it's possible to read it on a Mac ???

Anybody tried it ???

Hi, Callisto!

It's actually not my website. It's the Big Blind Media website. I don't run it.

Second, yes, Flashplayers can play on Mac but they have to be designed for it. Right now it only plays on PCs. Eventually, I think, they will reconfigure it to play on Macs. I have a Mac, too, so I can't play it on my computer either!

I'd like to give a shout out for this effect as well. Rehab is the showcase effect, but the other 5 are awesome as well. The 6 effects on this dvd make it a very sweet purchase.

Cameron's take on the anniversary waltz genre is gold.

What's the difference between this and Mathieu Bich's TNR? They both seem to be both the same trick.

Mathieu bich's tnr is a transposition this is a torn and restored card which can be signed on both the front and the back, with rehab the angles are great and from what I have heard tnr angles are ok if viewed front on.

for those whom are in two minds about picking this up I would say definately if you want a good tnr plot

This particular video player isn't Flash-based though it's an easy mistake to make because it's based on the same basic technology but this is actually capable of a lot more. It's not compatible with Mac currently but could be built to be so at some point in the future.

Cheers,

Jamie.

Thanks Luke for clearing that up for me. Also, thanks to Cameron for also letting me know the difference. I look forward to purchasing this version. Signed on both the front and back? That's amazing!

Just to be totally fair, the spectator signs the front, the magician signs the back. it's still amazing, though. Smile

You don't have to sign the back. But it does enhance the illusion a bit.
