I have both of the dvds and I have to say the water monte really blew me off..after learning how its done, I realised its not that difficult and that's the good part!!

I have to say it does have a few tricks which I dint like but overall, is worth getting as the ideas are interesting enuff and the best part, most of them are easy to do.

cheerios

Didn't care for Metrosexual or The Bullet Catch but everything else was good IMHO.

I loved these dvd's but do agree that metrosexual was a little weak. I also thought the same about the bullet catch but I have a good friend who does it all the time and it kills. Just proves the old adage that a trick doesn't have to fool a magician to be good. It just has to fool the paying customers.

I love shattered, water monte and coffee break. I think the DVD is worth the cost for shattered alone. Lay folks love the bullet catch. Thanks Scott!

Guys,

Scott Alexander....read his post! What a class act! Scott I bought your DVDs and love'em! YOu are a credit to the art. I happen to love the toolbelt routine. It is so commercial and clever.

I look forward to the day I can get TFA and add that killer to my act.

Shattered is a wonderful effect but I don't understand how it is worth the price of the DVD considering that you would have to spend around $200 to make it yourself. I think it makes sense to just buy the effect by itself for $250 from HP. I'm glad that shattered was not the only thing I liked on the DVD because alone it is definitely not worth the price of the DVD IMHO.

Scott;

I personally think that the Bullet Catch with a straw was worth the price of the DVD. Great routine.

Well Scott,

I had to save my self the money on the Shattered and DVD's. It was the easiest way I was able to add TFA to my act last July and how I can eagerly sit here and wait for my Velocity which is in transit. (With my luck, it will be delivered while I am in Arkansas doing some shows...hopfully it gets here tomorrow and I can at least take the DVD with me).

Only problem...I feel like I am doing the Scott Alexander Magic Show:East Coast version. At least I am changing the routines up somewhat. You know the TFA I do is really different. But I thank you my friend and hope your shoulders can hold the weight of my standing on them.

I just got the two DVD's yesterday, and watched the 10 O'clock show immediately. I was going to watch the 12 O'clock show but I don't stay up past 12.

Silly joke.

Ok, My reaction:

I'm so glad that I found this forum to help me find recommendations on DVD's.

I saw these listed as several people's "top DVD for 2004" and I am VERY GLAD I ordered them! I'm going to start adding some elements into my routines.
I try to not do what everyone else is doing, but I'm learning that it takes any magician time to learn, just like me, so just because this is on a popular DVD doesn't mean that everyone will be performing it. Taylor's Magic Shop in Sydney had to order more because he'd already sold out.

I like Scotts work, he's a thinker. Perhaps what's got everybody twisted
is they have no original material to perform or sell for that matter.

I have love Scotts material, I perform what seems to suit me of fit my style.
Not all material works for everyone.

What I can say is, for the most part, Scott has me thinking. I tend to read
between the lines, this is where the magic is.

Let us not forget, Scott is a professional who makes a living with this material,
how many out there can make the same claim??

As for me, Scott thanks for sharing Velocity and Final Answer. You could have
kept it all to yourself, I think I would have.

In the immortal words of Ralph Kramden: Some people are never satisfied.

Renzomagic,

I think its great that you are able to read between the lines and adapt the material to suit your own style.

If you perform the matierial word for word and move for move you would be doing a dis-service to yourself.

Glad to be a springboard for fellow magicians thought process'.

Thanks..

I have both the 10 O'Clock and the Midnight Show dvds. I don't think I'm going to wear a tool belt for Shattered as it's not my style at this time. But I do like to see this act performed by Scott! Effects that I definately am going to incorporate are Coffee Break, Water Monte, Jumping Jacks, Sense of Color and The Hat! Great work, Scott. You are, IMO, one of the best modern magicians out there Smile

Yes, exohordon, you're right! It's Nailed and not Shattered. My mistake...
