Hello brothers and sisters

Next summer I am going to perform on streets! And I wonder what kind of portable sound and light system do you use? Do You use it at all? What kind of power source do you use? Even Your thoughts would help!

Thank You people!

Have a Magical Day!

Light: use the sun - no costs and it provides heating also. You will have more spectators in sunlight compared to rainy days...

Sound: use your own voice. Amplification is banned in most cities, so you cannot use it.

Thanks for the answer Smile

As far as I know amplification is not banned in most Europe cities. Still I am looking forward for Your comments.

The best lighting for actors faces comes nearly from the front in an angle of 45° to 35°. In bright sunlight you would have to use sunglasses. Contact lenses with UV stop are better - Maxsight produces them. You could provide sunshade for your eyes by a hat too, but the same shade would darken your face. So I think there are three solutions: 1. a hat with a very wide rim that gives a shadow over your complete face 2. fashionable sunglasses 3. special contact lenses.

The necessary angle for proper lighting also is the reason why it is difficult to provide artificial lighting. The lantern is not the problem but the mounting. Any tripod in front of you is a risk for spectators to stumble.

And for the restrictions, possible allowances and lots of information have a look at:

In all German cities I know it is forbidden to use amplification. And you always need to apply for allowance. Some cities charge a fee, some don't. Example of regulation:

The situation in Switzerland and Austria seems to be similar. So a proper vocal training seems to be the only solution.

I have performed extensively throughout Switzerland, Germany, and Austria with amplified sound for my 1-hour long street show.

I have never faced much resistance at all to having it. Out of all the cities I have played, Munich enforces their rules the most and is the only one I would intentionally avoid if I relied on amplification. The others, not so much.
